I've only done a D35 (trice), D30, and a Ford 8.8. I cut corners on the 8.8 and it didn't last long, the D35 broke the threaded portion of the pinion under the strain of 1 ton u-joints, a Jeep 4.0 HO I6 and 16x35 Boggers, and the third time was because somehow, the u-joint was hitting the pinion nut and it backed off, but the D30 never had a problem.

Sorry for the dumb question but what's the easiest way to check for an exhaust leak? Not so much a hole but just making sure I clamped shit together tightly enough?

Still new to wrenching certain things and exhaust install was one of them.

Just like an air leak in a tire? Soap and water around joints?

It's sound mostly. There will be a ticking sound and you might be able to feel the hot exhaust coming from the joint.

Thanks for the tip mate. I just installed my new Borla exhaust and on the old system the flanges literally touched when bolted together, but with the Borla exhaust the flanges have about a 1/16" gap between them when torqued down. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't causing a leak at all, shouldn't be as the gasket is still installed. Just checking, thanks mate.

I'll probably go check the bolts and clamps after a few days of vibrating around from normal driving, make sure it's all buckled up right.

typically theres a gasket that goes in between the flanges for the exhaust. some are flat, some are ring like, and some are bowl shaped, really depends on the system. But you would know if there was an exhaust leak, I know on my truck Im positive my header to Y pipe has a slight leak because when I step on the gas I can hear an extra air noise and its there all the time; so I know it's not the manifold to cylinder head exhaust gasket

Yeah, I left the gasket there reusing it for the new exhaust (have a new gasket just in case though). I'll check again tonight to see if there is any air movement around the flanges but I didn't notice any, that small gap just had me iffy. For all I know Borla just didn't bore out the seat for the gasket deep enough, no worries as long as gasket is there I assume.

Heya mate, do you happen to fab sliders (bolt-on to be specific) by any chance? You're fairly close and are well known in the community for your work, figured I'd hit you up. Wouldn't need it for actual OR function, more so door protection without getting in the way like ugly ass steps do.

Unfortunately I don’t have the stuff to cut the frame plates for bolt on. I do weld on only right now.

Alright mate, much appreciated for the response. I can understand that, plasmas/lasers aren't cheap.

If I was to bring a pair of frame mount plates with me in the future, would you be interested in fabbing the tubing and slides themselves welded to my plates?

I might be able to sweet talk my boss into letting me cut/form a pair here at work. I think I got that CAD file that's been lingering around the forums.

If not it's all good, I could always buy prefabbed just looking to avoid those hefty shipping fees by staying local.

Hi guys. Might have a deal lined up but figured I’d throw here as well just in case, and I don’t have enough age on my account to BST section.

Just picked up my diamondback se coated in line-x, short bed but think I want to go another route.

Looking for 1500obo or more so even a trade for wheels and tires. Looking 285s with wheels similar to scs, fn, level 8 etc.

Now I just have to build them. :sawzall::welder::bananadead:

Oh, and the new axle seal I installed yesterday is leaking again. I'm starting to think it might be the CV axle. I'm going to switch the CVs side to side and replace the seal again. If the passenger side starts leaking, I'll exchange the CV for a new one.

Got everything installed. What a bitch doing the heavy leafs in the back was solo.

I think it turned out great. I didn’t take pre and post measurements but it’s gotta have given over 3 in the back with no weight just based on how high my tailgate sits now and I’m guessing 2-3 in the front. I really like it still sitting with a little rake.

Nice man decided to tackle it yourself. I see more pride in looking at something, saying I did that or I built that.

    Looks great.
