Alright fellas so I looks like @Darth ToyTaco and I will be heading up to north Jemez for some camping/wheeling/wandering.

    Tentive plan:
Friday 23rd leave Albuquerque around 6 or 7 and camp along Hwy 126 near FS 117.

Saturday 24th hit FS 117 to FS 93 and portions of FS 103 and if time allows FS 461 back down near FS 93 to our camp spot for the night.

Sunday 25th head back into town.

I know there has been some interest from @Brian007Taco , @Boss_Taco_177 ,& @TacoIII to get out and run some trials. Let us know if you’re interested and I’ll pm you some more info on specifics and that goes for anyone else.

I don’t anticipate any really hard core wheeling but bring some recovery gear if you have it.

As @Darth ToyTaco mentioned is anyone else interested in going? If so, it would be great if you can let me know by Wednesday so we can hammer out some details before we head out on Friday.

Can a small trailer make it?

I'm assuming its the same trailer you shared pictures of back in June? I would say yes I don't imagine any of the trails being that hard core where a trailer wouldn't make it through. That being said there is one section FS 117 → FS 103 that I personally haven't done so I can't really say for sure but if all else fails there is another route to where we will camp for Saturday evening.

Hey guys, I know it sucks to hear crickets when you post up in this thread... been there. I wanted to say, though, good work putting together a trip and trying to get people together. It sounds like fun, but I can't make it. I'll be looking forward to some pictures.

Hey man no worries! I’ll for sure try to get some good shots while we’re out. Looks like a great area where abouts in the Pecos??

Yeah its a little frustrating and I know you have been through the exact same thing here. I always thought it was crickets because people usually did too short notice but I have been proven wrong. Next time you have time, post up and maybe we can go on a trip or at the least get a beer or something.

We will definitely try to get some photos.

Elk mountain? Heading there this Wednesday/Thursday. Still can’t thank you enough for sharing that the first time. Gone up there so many times since. I feel like a broken record @Darth ToyTaco @Taco505 , always working the weekend :(:annoyed:

Right on... the first pic is Mora Flats and the second is Elk Mountain.

It's always hit or miss based on everyone's schedule, but if you keep posting invites eventually you'll get some takers. Usually day trips get a bigger response than overnights.

Yessir. I took the family for a drive to the top last Saturday. It was windy and a little cold as usual and nobody wanted to get out of the 4Runner. I'm glad you've enjoyed your time up there.

I saw some guys in a Tacoma camped near the top. It looked like your rig at first, and I thought it might be you, but noticed the truck had a shell.

If I wasn't already going down to Cruces this weekend, I actually would have more than likely joined you guys.

Had a great time this weekend in the Santa Fe NF near the San Pedro Peaks Wilderness with @Darth ToyTaco @STravis and a buddy in his Delica.

    Camp spot for Friday night:

Heading out from the camp spot to FS117:
    IMG_1515.jpg

A rutted section along 117, wish I had some better pictures of the flex from the tacos and the Delica looking like its about to flop.

    IMG_1520.jpg

We took a quick break at Tea Kettle Rock on the way to camp #2 to set up for lunch.
    IMG_1526.jpg

As we pulled into camp #2 we found that it was already occupied. We were still able to find space to set up camp and have lunch.
    IMG_1532.jpg

After lunch we took a drive a little north of camp to FS461. It was clear that not many people had been on that road recently as we stopped a few times to clean up a bit.

As usual I wish I had taken more photos but still had a great time.

Mora Flats is where I went for my first backpacking trip. It's a nice area, especially after you get farther in to get away from the crowds.

I didn't have many photos either but here are a couple.

I helped Travis recover a guy that was high centered. I checked my dashcam and took a screen shot so everyone could see how bad that guy was stuck.

The barrier was probably put there by forest service to keep people out. To make it more painful for him, he was next to a bypass some one had made when he got stuck. Guy said he was stuck for about 4 hours.20190826_133922.jpg
