I was at Moose Lake east of Hayward this weekend. Rained both nights. Hated packing up in the rain this morning. Still had fun fishing! The picture is from saturday morning. My drying rack!

That lake has some of the darkest stained water for a lake I have ever seen. How was the fishing?

I have never seen water that color before. Like coffee almost. Must be from all of the timber. Local bait shop said use the color orange for everything. Caught 3 smallmouth and 2 walleye. All under the size limit but close.

I have blocked off the weekend of Sept 13-25, and may have recruited a friend to join me for the three-hour drive up. Changed my poll answer from Maybe to Yes, and am getting my Boss 2.0 lift and AAL installed this Friday. Anyone interested in my OEM shocks and struts?

I'm certain I work till at least 5pm on the 13th, so it'll be dark before I get to the campsite, and I only have stock lights. I did grab the GPS app, so that should help.

I have the N-FAB Predator steps that hang down 5-6 inches off the nerf bars. I need them because my wife couldn't get in the truck otherwise. I'm a bit worried they may get forcibly removed if I do any trails that are particularly aggressive. Should I take the time to remove them, or do you think we'll stick to mud and bumps?

Has anyone organized a Greater MKE/Madison caravan drive?

I'm betting on highs in the 50-87° range, lows between 28-55 overnight. 50% chance of rain, 10% chance of dreary rain all weekend.
    :D

I'm really hoping for typing mid-September weather, but it's a total crapshoot at this point.

I'll post the forecast a few days before the trip. Usually they are somewhat accurate a few days out.

I'm looking forward to having you along!

If you're arriving late, I'd like to make it as easy as possible for you to set up. Will you be setting up a tent? I can make sure there is a spot clear if that's the case.

As far as the nerf bars; there seems to be a way around most of the obstacles. I'm not sure about the rocky hill climb, though. There's a video of it a few pages back. I'm guessing that there may be a few people who won't want to attempt it, so we'll have to discuss the alternatives on Friday night.

See post #182 for what's probably the most difficult part of the trail. Page 9 of this thread.

Wife already told me I won’t be doing the rocky hill climb if I want to be able to play with y’all another day.
I can live with that I guess since it is my daily driver also.

I apparently should have been a weatherman.

I’m just gonna predict the weather will be exactly the same as it was the prior year. My accuracy has gotta be at least on par with the professionals

Yep, I'll have a tent, but if it's too dark, I've slept in the truck before.
I watched the video as well as others on Youtube, and it's why I was worried about the steps. I'll probably have to pass on the rocks, but would still love to come along and watch/video. I'm considering picking up a GoPro for the event.

This looks challenging because that dude is a shitty driver, like a truly shitty driver. Seriously. Peeling out and hitting rocks with his diff. He put no effort in tire placement or picking a logical line. Don’t drive like him. Dumbass.

I am going to head out to that little hill the next week or two since it’s an hour or so from my apartment. I’ll report back.
