Thank you everyone for the BDay wishes and if I missed someone, I am sorry!... sorry I don't participate in this thread as much anymore. Work, Life, and everything else has me way to busy to be on TW a lot so I only get on here a couple days here and there honestly... wish I could more though to stay current with things.

    Also...

From the Hidden Falls TTC Trip back in December, who was the person that brought the Cast Iron Camp Ovens that made the Lazy Peach Cobbler that one night, pretty sure white 3rd gen with RTT on it? I am looking to get one myself and wanted to know what size the one they had was...

Was looking at a 6qt as that is what the Recipe on Lodge calls for and seems like a good overall size for camp cooking.

No doubt! Oak can be super brittle and crack on you even when you think it's stabilized. I made a board for myself out of Red Oak that has stood up very well that I'm going to give to my kids one day. Mesquite is a beautiful wood, but pretty gnarly to work with. I can't imagine trying to level off the end grain on Mesquite as it's so dang hard on my tools! Over all, I think you made the right choice in Pecan, it's got similar properties to the other two, which is what you want in a board that size. It's beautiful.

Pretty stoked about it overall! That first knife mark is gonna be tough, but I think it'll handle it fine :bananadance:

That's why I love end grain boards so much. Knife marks don't show as bad.

Shoot I would love too, but I am holding off on doing anything in September as I am going to try and go to Southern Cruiser Crawl at Hot Springs, October 12th weekend and then Fall Run at Barnwell 26th weekend.

Mmmm I know the face, but can't remember who it is exactly! AHHHH

    Raining in Baytown again...

It’s nice to see rain but not when you’re trying to stretch your legs outside.

Y'all, I'm dragging today. My oldest is on the drumline in highschool and today starts the early morning rehearsals. We had to have him there at 6:15, so my alarm went off at 5:30. I know a lot of you guys are early risers, but during the summer I get up at 7. I've had coffee, tea, and I may have to resort to a Monster later... :bored:
