Edit: Maner and I had no idea what the Hell it was when he gave it to me. Was just a rusted "rifle" in the corner. It's not rare or anything, just historically neat.

Try looking at the local skool district for openings, my wife has been looking for a job with Bastrop and I’ve seen several positions that were for tutors, and teaching assistants.

I've had it twice...both times by luck but damn it was delicious. You can always get in the digital line for pickup but I don't think they take to go orders less than $100 or something like that. My next fave would have to be Valentinas, then Terry Blacks. Still need to give Coopers a try.

Hey guys. Giving y’all first dibs on MESO 3rd gen puddle pods I just ordered on Saturday. After watching an install video, the install is more than I care to deal with. If anyone wants them for $150, let me know. If no takers by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll put them on the Texas Classified Sticky.

I’ve put almost 7000 miles on the truck in the past three weeks. First trip was to Vermont for a wedding then drove to Leadville this past weekend. Looking forward to some time out of the driver’s seat.

    soooo.... finally got my new cutting board/counter-top :D ! Courtesy of @lilred95 !!! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: @CJsConcepts FTW!

This board has been on my list for years. So stoked to have it now!

36"x24"x1.5" thicc end grain. Purple Heart (for the blue) Padauk (Red) and Spalted Pecan (White and Star) With a juice groove and trough!

Bad lighting in my kitchen at the time. Will get better pics later! It's still leaching some oil in the heat after its multi day bath to soak up some oil.

Knives in second pic for reference... The Shun is a 10" Bladed knife. Huuuuuge Wood!

Pics from fresh out the oil bath! Better colors in the light!

Okay, I wanted to throw a topic out to the hive mind and get your thoughts; re: Cedric Benson.

    First of all:
    1. I ride motorcycles. Most of the time safely, almost always while wearing ATGATT.
    2. I didn't go to UT. Nothing against the university, it's fans or alumni; just didn't attend.
    3. Cars turning left in front of motorcycles, and thereby killing the rider, happens way too often, and is criminally not criminally punished, IMO.
Okay. So Cedric Benson dies Saturday night, after hitting a van at the intersection of Mt. Bonnell and 2222, while traveling westbound on 2222 at a high rate of speed on a BMW motorcycle. Cedric has a passenger, who also dies at the scene; a 27 year old female who had just earned her doctorate in audiology. The driver of the van that Cedric hit was turning left, from Mt. Bonnell onto 2222, and had checked for traffic, then pulled into the intersection. None of that is hearsay, it is as reported in various public news sources. The Mt. Bonnell/2222 intersection is a T, controlled by traffic lights:

    upload_2019-8-20_8-26-50.jpg

What hasn't been reported yet is which driver drove through a red light; barring a light malfunction, one of them had to.

Cedric was BMOC here in Austin, so the coverage has been overwhelming. I get that to a certain extent, but as a guy who rides, I'm a bit peeved at:
    1. How little has been said about the passenger. A beautiful young lady, who had her whole life ahead of her, until she didn't, potentially due to decisions made by Cedric.
    2. Some of the outrage directed at the driver of the van. After the accident, the driver and his passenger stayed on the scene, and at least one of them attempted to attend to Cedric and his passenger. Despite this, and the fact that actual fault for the accident has not been made public, I have read comments stating that manslaughter charges were needed, immediately.
    3. And related to that second point, do people realize how little is done when motorcycles are KILLED by people in cars turning left in front of them, when the car and bike are approaching each other? That's not exactly how this accident happened, but cars turning left in front of motorcycles, absent extenuating circumstances, get either a failure to yield ticket, or nothing at all. Read that again. The driver of a car kills someone, by turning their vehicle into the path of a motorcycle, and either gets away with an inconsequential ticket, or nothing at all. And no one notices, or cares. But a guy that used to run a football for a local college puts himself and his passenger at risk, dies in the ensuing accident, and everyone loses their freaking minds over his passing.
ETA: It appears there is some confusion over exactly where the accident occurred. From Hook'em.com:

The preliminary investigation showed the BMW motorcycle driven by Benson was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound in the left lane of RM 2222, police said. A white, 2014 Dodge van was stopped at the T-intersection of Mount Bonnell Road and RM 2222. After checking for oncoming traffic, the van attempted to turn left onto RM 2222 when it was struck by the motorcycle, according to police.

That is the intersection shown in the picture above, as per Google Maps. However, commenters to that article have stated that is not where the accident happened:

    - The incident was not at the light there is an unprotected left just before the light. The hill and curve is a blind spot and it's very dark at night. There was no running a l8ght. Motorcycles crash on 2222 almost every weekend the actual turn needs a light there isn't one. I pass there daily I'm at 2222 & 360

    - there are two Mt Bonnell intersections. this happened at the intersection with the northbound Mt Bonnell, where there is no light.....it is just a T. The van tried to turn left to go EAST, but hit the motorcycle which was going west. A blind spot there, especially if the motorcycle was going real fast

    - the van was turning left from the NORTH side of 2222, Benson was going west. There are two Mt Bonnell Rd intersections. This is the one with Mt Bonnell from the north side and there is no light at this intersection. To turn left here onto 2222, you have to look fast and then go fast to get onto 2222 because you cant see that far. If someone was driving a motorcycle real fast, you wouldnt have time to get across without hitting

There are others, and I'm not familiar with that particular area, as I tend to stay out of downtown on two wheels. The actual story will (hopefully) come out at some point.

Without more facts of this specific situation I do not have an opinion yet.

But in general, I think there is a stigma towards riders. "organ donors"
Therefor it is usually perceived as the riders fault. I believe this is due to ignorance. Could go on but yeah...

But that's not the case with this case, Cedric has been deified.

Wow! you put a lot of thought and words into this.

As a rider, I understand your thoughts and concerns. My only question, concerning the punishment phase, is if the football player and his passenger had been in a car and were killed, would the process/punishment be different? If not, then I don't think we can say, "stop killing MC riders with no repercussions", but if the behavior is different, then there is a case for change.

And that is totally ignoring the case for change that if the behavior is the same, and killing someone in a traffic incident is not punished, or sidelined in either case.

But each case is definitely different and "judgements by Internet-info-only" are becoming all too common.

I agree and expected such early on. I am hoping more information comes out and we can know the whole story.

Sadly because of his fame we may never know.

It is a tragic event regardless.

Good point. My bias as a rider is showing; it just kills me to read of motorcyclists being killed when a car pulls in front of them, no defense at all.
