Certain times while driving on the freeway, i hear a whistling noise from my truck. Would it be coming from the two black strips down the cab? Passenger side is slightly raising up. I dont know what those are even for?

I believe it’s your weather seals on your doors, other people have had this problem also. Do a google search with tacoma in it and see.

Doing 75-85 MPH with a heavy crosswinfd will make my Tacoma whistle. It's the rubber sealon the door. There's a thread here on it on how to fix it.

    The ol' Kazoo strikes again.

There is a TSB i believe for this.. but i have also had the same thing happening in my 2013, and it hasnt caused any problems like leaking. Unless it bothers you, there is nothing to worry about

There is a service bulletin at your Toyota dealer about this. They replace the door weather seals.

Oh its not, but when im by myself trying to learn about serial killers, its terrible. I googled it and looks like AVS channel vents ( or whatever theyre called) might be in my future

Do eeet! you'll love them. i have the in-channel AVS ones on my truck. I would personally avoid the "stick-on" type as they wont last as long. The AVS ones should serve you well!

Where did you get yours? I found them on Auto Anything for 62.99 for front and rear set. Easy install?

Mine actually came on the truck when i bought it, but i think install should be as easy as popping them into place. Here are the ones i've got. The pic is of a chebby, but these are for the taco, if you go down and look at images, you'll see em on some double cab 2nd gens

    OP.

    Answer this,

Is it a faint tea kettle whistle,

or is a loud kazoo sound.

    Its not door seals then.

Its the front top grill to hood gasket. Open your hood and you will see a rubber gasket that runs the top of the grill and meets the hood right at the tip. Easy fix, put a piece of 1/4in dripper irrigation line (stuff can be had in like 10-20ft rolls for like 2 bucks at a hardware store). And push a piece through the opening. There was a TSB for this tea kettle whistle sound a while back wherein the dealer put a new seal on the grill and adjust the grill.

The other sound that sounds exactly like a kazoo which will occur in HEAVY crosswinds is the door seals.

I get the same noise. At first I thought it was my window visors, but after reading this I’m thinking differently
