Anyone on here replace windshields? I need my windshield replaced and I would rather help someone on here out if I can. It would be going thru insurance of course. I've used BR Auto Glass several times for the Jeep and never had any issues so I can always go back to them.

I couldn't wait and there were no responses so I went with BR Auto glass again. It will be replaced on Friday. 20190619_153315.jpg

What is the cost of the replacement? I thought I had windshield coverage, but I guess not.

Thought about that but figured more people might see it as a new thread. I will post how much but I think the place I'm going thru is expensive sine it's OEM glass.

Well BR Auto Glass is not a good place. They rescheduled on Friday because an installer was sick and they were supposed to come out today. Just got a call they some how missed my appointment for today and hadn't even contacted insurance yet so I was told. As soon as I got off the phone with them I found Precision Auto Glass in Castle Rock so I'm going with them. When I talked to insurance company they said there was already a claim from BR and she said she would just move that one over to Precision so I'm good for Thursday. Fingers crossed I get a new windshield soon it spread right into my line of sight. I will post up the cost once it's done.
@Gusthepickle I have a 2016 so no recalibration for me. That does suck that they have to do that and that's pretty expensive on top of the cost of the windshield.

Just had the window done on my 2014, best $185 I’ve spent on the truck, you don’t realize how pitted a window is until you’re looking through a clear one again

Indeed! Mine's been horribly pitted for the last 3 years and I keep waiting for it to crack finally (no glass coverage) before I justify replacing it. Still hasn't happened and it drives me nuts, staring out that nasty windshield on the daily.

$900 for a windshield is insane. I used to have a Grand Prix, and it had an option for a HUD. I recall when I got that windshield replaced they asked me if it had the option because it doubled or tripled the price. Thankfully I didn't. My current windshield on my truck was I think $100, and that was without insurance. It was a local place up here who charged cost of glass and whatever you wanted to tip the installer. I think it's lasted longer than the original at this point, though in the past year or so it's been picking up more large pits than previously. Even overall it's definitely noticeable when driving into low sun, never mind the big ones you can see any time.

Small local shop called Ander's Auto Glass. They're only up here at the Windsor exit with mobile service in Cheyenne. Biggest thing at the time was the gasket around it. They didn't stock them, the local dealer didn't have one on hand and it would have been expensive even if they did, and might have delayed things. Fortunately they were able to reuse the original - apparently they can warp and stretch when being removed and become unusable. It didn't go back in completely right, and there was some excessive rtv used, but it wasn't enough for me to care about particularly for the price. And the glass was better than the safelite/novus stuff, if not OEM.

I ended up going with Autoglassnow, off of Alameda.

$190 plus tax for non-mobile install on my Tacoma

What type of windshield are you guys getting for that sub $200 price? I've always gone through Safelite when my insurance covered it, but this time they aren't. Safelite is quoting about $400 for the green tint windshield with the darker band at the top.
