    I have access to a small utility trailer I can use whenever I want for loads that won’t easily fit in the bed with the shell on. The leer salesman told me that two able-bodied people can lift the shell off. What’s your experience with how easy it is? What do they weigh, a few hundred pounds?

    I just sold my tonneau cover on CL about 30 minutes ago. It sat is my basement for 6 months since I bought my shell.

    And for what is is worth, I can remove and reinstall my shell in about 13 minutes each way. I put 4 eye bolts in my garage ceiling. I then use 2-2x4s and 4 hatchet straps to lift the shell and hang it from the ceiling.

    My ARE MX Shell weighs 200 lbs. Forget taking it off easily if you properly weather seal it with silicon. Besides, who has room for it it or for parking a car or truck in the garage? :anonymous:

    The inside of my garage is quite tall. I’m working on rigging up a hoist system and storage rack. Seen some pretty interesting rigs on youtube. I have the height to be able to store the cap above and still drive under. Growing up my uncle had a similar setup and it served him well.

    I have a shell and a bed cover, just removed the shell to put bed cover back on. I just like to change things up.

    So you think the shell removal is easy. You have the room to store the topper. It sounds you have more than enough room for a tonneau. You think you may still have a use for a tonneau. It sounds like you have a hard time parting with this tonneau.

    What's the issue exactly? Sounds like you've thought this through and have made up your mind already. I think this thread can be closed.

    I don’t like holding on to things I don’t think I’ll use much. Wondering if I’m missing something in terms of why I should keep the tonneau. Got some good input... will likely sell sometime soon. Thanks for the replies.

    There’s a few scenarios;
    A) your current cover gets damaged and you need the oe for a while
    B) you sell or trade in your current truck but want to use the cover for your next truck and want to include oe cover in the sale

    Wut.

    A. Why buy it then ask randos to talk you out of it?

    2. Why buy a truck to effectively turn it into a shitty 4runner?
