A spool is a permanent locker. It's 100% lockup on forward and reverse.

 

A spool is just a dodad that replaces and eliminates your spider gears completely that way you have no open diff capability. Other lockers also replace the spider gears but they have different styles (spring/ratchet driven = mechanical, arb = air pressure, electric actuator = e locker etc etc) and can maintain open diff functions. Lincoln Lockers just mean you took a lincoln welder to your spider gears.

No bueno for the corners

 

Depends on your needs. It's bad for traction in corners unless you corner using the throttle, good if you're maximizing traction going straight.

What is it like yaw control

 

It's a center lock, so kinda liked going low-range but not a locker. It's like a switch from partial AWD to computer controlled 50/50 power split between front and rear. Not the same thing.

 

Yaw control is more like ATRAC

 

So a vehicle equipped with yaw control has three differentials one in the front one in the rear and one in the middle

 

That can't be right cuz all wheel drive cars have CV shafts coming out of the transmission in the front

 

This is correct. The middle is the transfer case, but it's also called a center differential. Land Rover does it this way, too.
