88 Rotors. I got the lift, rims, tires , grill, skid plate. One stop shop. Not done yet. Will I ever be?

 

Have you rubbed when compressed?

 

struts set to 0? overall lift after settling? what is the offset of wheels?

 

Looks similar to my setup ome 5100, 887 with 2" AAL. Your springs front and rear are going to sag eventually. I just ordered a HD Dakar pack and 1/2" thick strut top plates.

 

Exactly what I did. Had the HDs for 6 months now.
Just installed small spacers this weekend. Back to a nice stance.

 

I have 888 so those are med duty vs 887 are light duty so I’d don’t expect to loose any lift. Everything is settled now. No rub. Full compression I can’t give you an honest answer as far as off-road. Light I’m sure but serious off road trails you have to check with someone who really goes balls out

 

Time will tell. I’m sure with all the tacomas they’ve done they would had ppl coming back after 1 year dropping that kind of money complaining and changing to the 889.

2888 Springs are used on 2016+ OME Tacoma Lift Kits. They can also be used on

2005-2015 Ome Struts and will result in more lift than the 2887.


Apparently someone forget to tell the manufacturer their springs only last one year.


I will say this.... there are soo many opinion and experiences here anyone can get you to second guess your decision. One shop says this one shop says that.
I went with what my buddies did and ALOT of ppl here. Majority. So we could all have made the same error. But being on 4th year of 3rd gen I think we are safe with this set up.

I will say that alignment is extremely important as the dealer many deals with manufacturers specs and not mods. So I need to go get it aligned at a specialist that can really dial in my caster/camber it’s a hair forward.

I have the 888s 5100s and 3 leaf HS kit. No rubbing either with 285/70/17.

 

Great set up. It seems to be the most popular, reliable and affordable. I was going to go with the fox 3” but this set up gives you 2.5 lift in the front and that ( most common opinion) is the sweet spot for our Tacomas. If I went 3” full inches with the Fox it was strong recommended to buy upgraded UCAs as well to adjust the positive camber you will get at the 3” point as it will give you faster tread wear and cv boot tearing sooner because it is out of spec range that can be adjusted with stock UCAs

 

With the stock bumper config, yes you will likely be fine. Also missed they were 2wd...my bad

I think the Bilstein 5100’s are better than the OME shocks. My 888 were so stiff and jarring with the OME shocks. I went through ball joints in one year.

 

So I take it you had after market mod upfront? Winch or bumper or something? I don’t plan or added any weight to the front

Yeah the 2wd is 350 pounds lighter than the 4wd so the 888s will definitely not be a problem for you. For me it was

 

2015 - 2wd double cab short bed
3985 curb weight

2015 - 4wd double cab short bed
4195 curb weight

2017 - 2wd double cab short bed
4095 curb weight

2017 - 4wd double cab short bed
4445 curb weight

250 pound difference from 2nd gen 4wd to 3rd gen 4wd

Which raises the question as to wtf happened to make the 4wd so much heavier in the 3rd gen?! Someone knows. Educate me.
Because the 2wd 3rd gen is only 100 pounds heavier than the 2nd gen 2wd
