Not live. From the doctor's office Thursday after the bandages were removed. 19 staples came out. I now have a 3" titanium plate in my shoulder. Airport security and government buildings just got more fun!

Fell off a ladder in my barn on the 22nd. Somehow managed to land in the 3' wide path between my metal work bench, pole work lights, welder, and oil pan without impaling myself on something.

I landed with my left arm behind my back, and rolled back hitting my head on the floor. Things went dark for a few seconds, then I went to sit up. Wife was an hour away and kids were alone in the house so i *had* to get up. When I went to sit up I reached forward with both hands (or so I thought). I swore both hands were in front of me, but I could still feel the floor behind me. After blinking a couple times I realized my left hand wasn't *really* in front of me where it should be..... The arm disappeared behind my back somewhere. At that point I was thinking "well shit, this isn't good!"

I managed to get up and walk to the other side of my barn, grab my phone, and call 911. Then my inlaws to get the kids. At that point I'd laid back down to make the call and wait for the ambulance.

Weirdest f'n feelings ever! Not so much pain as discomfort, arm feeling like it should be in front of me but not being there, and REALLY intense tingling/pins and needles through my whole body.

Could barely dial 911 or my inlaws due to trouble focusing on my phone and seeing double. First attempt at 911 failed with a "connection lost" or similar message. I *think* they called back. Or the phone redialed... I don't really know. I just remember hearing the 911 operator talking and taking a few seconds to register that fact before explaining the situation and giving my address. Then somehow called my inlaws.

Yeah it's not the greatest but I'm glad it's no where else. I have more options with it where it is. Such as a high clearance bumper if I can work things out.

Damn! I'm glad you landed where you did and were able to get help.

Wow, looks plenty painful. Sorry you fell, but glad you are (or will be) OK. Like Chris said, "impressive"

Thanks! I didn't have a choice about getting up. Unless I wanted to lay there for an hour or more for my wife to get home and call 911. I got up because I new I needed help and I couldn't leave my kids alone during that.

The paramedic estimated I was 6-8' up. I'm not sure. I think I was halfway up it, but I haven't bothered to measure. The exact details of what happened are still kinda blurry.

Thanks! Ya know, I manage to make it 30 years without breaking a bone.... lol All the guys I went to HS with broke at least one climbing trees, riding ATVs, etc. Not me. I climbed trees, jumped out the 2nd floor window of a barn several times, and fell 10 feet when a rope on my tree house slipped.

Then I fall off a ladder in my barn and break it in such a way it can't simply be spliced. lol My mother always told me "never do anything half-assed". :D

I pushed on it but I'm weary of using an kind of hammer because that may just put more little dents in it. I could probably get a paintless dent repair to fix it but idk if that's what I want
