Research hoodscoops, they have always been for looks, top of the hood is low pressure, which is why hood louvers work for cooling.

Functional or not, it makes the front end look aggressive. Also breaks up the long flat boring hood.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
Well hell, I guess I have to pull mine off now. I can't have some guy on the internet thinking my truck is gay. Shit my truck may already be in leather chaps dancing to techno on Bourbon street with another scooped taco.

Someone needs to come up with a faux shaker hood scoop that is controlled by the RPM's of the engine, so when you rev the engine up the scoop rocks to the side, or make the scoop rock up and down inline with the truck and put some teeth on the front edge of the scoop so it looks like it's biting.

You could also put hydraulics on the scoop and make it move around in all directions like a low rider does. :yay:

I think the profile looks a bit better than the stock scoop, plus it looks not as bulky for sight line over the hood, i like the look of my sport scoop, but the profile affects sight lines when on the trails. This looks like a good product for those o/r drivers that want a scoop.

I love the looks of the scoop on my Tacoma.... it doesn't have to be functional, what would the 73 Cuda be without the non functional hood scoops LOL

Why do people want to hate on non functional hood scoops? So what if people like the looks.

I don't personally like black wheels cause they all look the same to me but I don't constantly question them.

I hope my taco isn't out giving blowjobs for bed graphics and block lifts right now. If only I had known earlier.

Nice job and looks great! Which model did you get? How did you paint it or did you have someone do the prep and paint?

If you like it go for it but all it’s going to do is reduce your forward visibility (probably by a few feet at ground level in the center of the hood). It also looks more like a 2nd gen scoop, 3rd gen is a different style.

I don't know why, but this thread reminds me of those condoms they used to sell in the machines in the men's room of the shady highway gas stations. You know those ones that had an extra inch or so in the tip added on to give you a little more 'length'. I say if you like the fake hood scoop, embrace it!

Big shout out to "Rambo Marine Recon"....
Couldn't help but notice the badging on the hood scoop and was wondering if you could give me the size....saw some on Amazon but it would be helpful to know the size before I order the scoop.
    Thanks

Looks better than the sport/pro scoop IMO.

    I still hate both, but...

Fascinating. I have to remind myself that aesthetics are subjective. Because a flat hood, to some, brings graceful lines to an already tryhard aggressive grille, as opposed to a shape-fucked atrocity constantly in your line of sight
