In case I may have missed it, anyone know if there is anything available yet specifically on the 5.29 gear tune?

I seen posts awhile back talking about it being worked on by @OVTune. Thinking about buying a kit. Just not sure what issues I’ll run into using the other tunes.

Torque will not tell you the ECU ID. On Android, the Carista and OBD Fusion apps will.

Super stocked about 2.0 for my 2019 04B31. I have been running 1.05.1 base 87 for a few weeks and I really like what it has done so far. What is the consensus on resetting the AT and LV learning? I have read through hundreds of pages on the 1.05 development... some swear by it, Mat says he doesn't recommend. I can see the pros and cons for both. I have not reset them on 1.05 at all.

2.0 completely changes the shift code so would't a reset of AT make sense?
Is clearing the LV the one that makes it run bad for a short period?
Should it be done after flashing 2.0?

What does everyone think: reset AT and LV?, just AT?, before or after flashing 2.0???

    Thanks

I have not reset anything on 04B04 with Beta 2.0 ver 1 4.88 tune and did not have any issues. Still loving the original Beta 4.88. Way ahead of 1.05 91 base.

Can anyone with 2.0 beta confirm how gearlock works? I read something a few days (pages) ago about it not requiring ETC now, which Mat even states in the first post here for the 2.0 features, "Gearlocking - Enable by S mode, no longer enable by ECT". However, on the 2.0 release page from 8/16 on OVTune's website it states "FILES USE OUR CURRENT IMPLEMENTATION OF GEARLOCK BASED ON ECT BUTTON".

I am currently still running 1.05 as my ecu is 04A61, but would like to know for sure how things work if there is gonna be a drop this Saturday.

It works differently in the beta than it will in the final release.

    • In the beta, gear-lock activates in S-mode when ECT is turned ON -- just like it does with 1.05 GL tunes. Note: If you leave ECT on in D-mode, it will screw up the downshifting, so make sure you turn ECT OFF while in D-mode!
    • In the final 2.0 release, it is my understanding that gear-lock will activate simply by switching the shifter to S-mode. In other words, it will no longer be tied to the ECT button and "normal" S-mode operation will not be available for trucks running the gear-lock tunes.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anybody having issues with the beta tune not wanting to shift out of second gear until you hit 7200rpm? started to get some burning smell yesterday when trying to pass on the freeway. on 1.05 performance it usually wouldnt go past 6500rpm.

"Gear Lock" on all OV Tunes up to now have worked the same, including beta. It is activated by the ECT button, which effectively eliminates the ability to use ECT mode, so beware of that, first and foremost.

    To use gear lock:

    1) press ECT button to enter gear lock mode.
This will prevent the truck from down shifting on its own, in both 'D' mode and 'S' mode.
    2) place gear selector in 'S' mode and shift the truck manually.

Key points - ECT gear lock mode will limit all downshifting with exception of a few extremes (very high load). 'S' mode will limit upshifting.
In layman terms, press ECT and use 's' mode to shit. Don't use ECT unless you are manually shifting the truck yourself.

    7200? Didn't 1.05 raise the limit to 6800?

Were you using gear lock or was the truck in Drive? Mat mentioned a while back that while in gear lock, you had to let off the throttle some to get it to shift near redline. I've never rapped through the gears while in gear lock mode, so I can't say for personal experience.

    Thank you for your non-contribution.

Thank you, I appreciate it. As someone who has not messed with gear lock at all I just wanted to make sure my understanding was correct.

i'd avoid the beta tune if you dont know how the gearlock mode works, it even says so right on the beta tune page where it explains how the gearlock mode works too.

I know how it works, but I just wanted confirmation on how the beta used it. Not a big deal. If you can't handle that then I'd suggest you stay off the Internet.

I would send a message to the OVTune ZenDesk and let Mat know what is going on. In the meantime, it would probably be a good idea to not take the truck to 7200rpm, if it's actually getting to that engine speed.
