Pics incoming. Cooking and then have to help my daughter with her homework. One will be marked as the submission. But I took a few more you might like just for fun.

First off I want everyone to know this is not my submission. The official submission comes below. It was a hard choice since there were two pictures that I really liked. The only issue that I have is I think one is better than the other but there is no movement or action in the picture. So the one I decided on in the end had the effect that I wanted, just not the background. But there wasn't much I could do about the background no matter where I set up. But I still like how it turned out. So before I finish with the final submission I thought I'd share some of the pictures that I took at a local park. This is one pretty amazing park with a public pool, a waterpark to cool off with for family and children, an amazing skate park, and multiple playgrounds. I didn't even know this park existed until the challenge was set for this week so it was a nice find.

That is one of the things that is nice about this challenge is you get to go find places that you didn't know existed. This was most certainly a pleasant surprise.

With that said, I hope you enjoy my small little video that I made and some B Roll shots.

This is my submission for the challenge this week. This was a pretty hard shot to get without an ND filter. I wanted the water to have some blur to it so I had to under expose the shot and finish it in post.

Always go the extra mile. Give people a little more than they expect. I didn't have to put it in but I thought it would be kind of a cool experience. It was a simple / quick video to edit since it was filmed in sequence. Took me about 15 mins to edit. Uploading? A little bit longer. I forgot and uploaded the master rather than an edit that was optimized for youtube lol. I thought about filming different angles of setting up since I had two tripods and my computerized slider but it was almost 100 degrees so fuck that lol. The Sony FDR-AX53 makes a great video camera since it has a built in motorized gimbal (B.O.SS stabilization) in the front of the camera so no external gimbal is needed for the camera. Plus it has a 20X's optical zoom with a ZEISS lens. Hell... you can pick one up for about $900 right now.
In the driving portion is was just me holding the camera but the image was stable, it was the car that was bouncing around. So it's great if you want to vlog, which I don't because my voice sucks because of a deep Souther Accent. Plus, if you want to vlog, you have to have a subject to talk about that keep the viewer interested in what you are doing. Starting a channel with a vlog never goes well.

I really debated about this photo. It's more pleasing to me (especially in full size) but there is no one there so no action for summer fun.

Thanks :) I shot it a bit underexposed f24 and 1/250 IIRC but I'd have to go back and look at the metadata. But that was pushing the limits of what the camera can do without an ND filter (which I can't find for some reason?). I've got plenty of graduated filters and three 10 stop filters but none of those would have helped with that shot. If I shot with a 10 stop filter the exposure would have been a 50sec minimum exposure and not only would the water disappear out of the frame, so would all the people and that would have made for a very boring shot. Guess I need to buy some more filters since I can't find mine.

This is the equipment I took with me. I didn't bring the 3 Axis Gimbal since I didn't want to take 30 mins to set it up to film B Roll footage of a playground.

Two tripods are better than one. Slider is in the back.

Everything in the bag. Camera, video camera, extra batteries, three lens's, normal shit.

That is one HELL of a neighborhood park. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a park that nice before.

We've actually got a few around the city that I was unaware of until this challenge. That skate park is awesome. I might take my BMX bike down there when it cools off some. Fuck this 100+ degree heat right now.

You should see the Trailside Park in Park City. Has bball courts, etc. as well as a full skate park and a HUGE mountain bike skills area!
