I guess I don't know where the generations switched. I've seen some small Tacos I thought were 2nd gen. Hell my neighbor has a Tundra V8 that looks smaller than by 3rd gen.

Internet forums can be like Festivus at times but for the most part I've found some valuable information and help on this one. Just wait until the 4th Gen doesn't meet or exceed expectations or when the 2020s hit the road in force.

We have the same exact cab as a 2nd Gen, the difference is it's made with more high strength steel, you can switch the doors, front clip, and bed between the two.

First, I love my truck now that I've done some things to address what I call "quirks" - mostly driveability issues.

Having said that, the 3rd gen has not been perfect (neither has any other vehicle).

Before the TW gaslighting gets out of hand:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/list-of-t-sbs-etc.562671/

It's ok, the "whiners" have my thanks for bringing issues up. The fact that there are multiple TSBs related 3rd gen driveability alone tells me that some threshold was reached, and that Toyota took it seriously.

I don't think 34 disgruntled TW "asshats" could have pulled that off, but you believe what you want.

    :notsure:

Yup my 2017 Wrangler Willys had the ECU grenade itself when I was in the middle of nowhere. Spent 27 days at the dealership and they gave it back like 48hours before it was eligible for lemon law lol.

Is the 3rd Gen perfect? No, but it is a great truck. Does it have it’s quirks? Yep! Most of them it shares with the 2nd Gen it’s so heavily derived from, like driveline vibrations, strange seating position, etc. It’s a little sluggish off the line but once you get going it’s got plenty of power, I find it a joy to drive on back country roads. The 2nd Gen’s are better off the line but then bog down.

Here on TW whatever trucks are 5-6 years old are seen as the good old days. Look at early posts, lots of people saying the 2nd Gen’s are plastic crap on the 1st Gen’s are the last real Tacoma’s. Then the early 2nd Gen’s were better then the later ones. Now the late 2nd Gen’s are the “best.” It’s all bullshit perpetuated by butthurt bitter people. Sadly the 3rd Gen also has the double assault from people who trend hopped from a murdered out BMW to a Tacoma because of all the sexy trucks on Instagram and now don’t understand what it’s like to drive a truck.

Bottom line you love your truck, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The 3rd Gen is selling like hot cakes and is an awesome truck. Congrats!

Lol, you forgot some other carry over quirks like kazoo shriek front door seals and creaky assed clutch pedals!

Meh that stuff makes me laugh, as I've never owned a vehicle (car, truck, or SUV) that made these weird sounds!

My previous two (new) cars were an '03 Jetta and '07 Frontier. The Jetta was v6 and lots of fun, but it was a steaming turd in the quality department: In the first 8,000 miles, I had got a new power window motor and a new transmission. Those broke together on a long and hot drive home from Las Vegas. That set the mood. Numerous electrical and computer gremlins. Replaced alternators, cables, batteries, etc... Nightmare. When the battery died for like the third time, I just swapped it out and drove it to the Nissan dealership. Traded it in while it was still holding the charge. My Frontier never had a problem. I'd probably still be driving her today if she wasn't 2wd.

After owning a VW, I can assure you that you Toyota owners don't know how good you have it.

The tacoma is very good at what it was intended to do. The problem is most people on here expect a miniature 3/4 ton truck that gets 30mpg... I had to add a tundra to the fleet. Not that the 2015 Taco wasn't capable, it was simply that I was exceeding the capacities of a small truck. Enjoy your truck and maintain it well. You will get plenty of life out of it. The reason I went 2015 was to get the truck that has been around long enough to have the bugs worked out. The pricing on the tacoma made the tundra seem like a great bargain. I love the Tundra, but I'm keeping the 2015 Taco as well.

Lol, don’t talk smack about my small-assed cab. You opted for a small-assed box and a bipolar shifty mess behind your engine!
