Long shot, but I'm gonna post this here just in case it were to show up and any of you WNC folks happen to see it. A little over a month ago I was on vacation with my family and we were staying a few nights at The Residences at Biltmore off Biltmore Ave (extended stay condo sort of place) in Asheville

I had this REI DRT 2.1 mid-fat MTB double cable locked to the racks on the bed of my truck as well as my wife's. We came out one morning (coincidentally, the morning I had planned to hit the trails in Dupont...) to find someone had meticulously melted the coating off both cable locks and, apparently used wire cutters to painstakingly cut each individual wire. Whomever stole this bike clearly took their time in a well lit parking lot, without any cameras of course.

Of course I have a police report and called around to some pawn shops and couple of bike shops that buy used but no dice and likely I'll never see this again :(

I had about $2k in it, was less than a year old and I was loving this bike. Can't replace it anytime soon. Soooo... if you come across one of these in this color and it has a Manic dropper, and is missing the end on one of the handlebar grips (the other is white), it's likely mine.

That sucks man, I'll be in Asheville most weekends this Fall, will keep an eye out. Petty theft, bikes especially, seem to be a real problem in Asheville right now.

I’d love the northern New Mexico or Arizona area, I just can’t find jobs there. Reno has more jobs than those but it definitely doesn’t have as many as some of the other big outdoor places. Tesla has the gigafactory and there are a few other companies. I interviewed at Sierra Nevada Corp which does a lot of aerospace and systems engineering work for the government, they mostly have corporate jobs in Reno though, most of their engineering jobs are in Colorado, Alabama, Northern Virginia, and some other spots.

The one downside of the cool towns/cities is the lack of jobs. Other than Seattle and California haha

All I have is this pic from a small XC race a few years ago with my pup. She raced twenty miles in the Georgia heat right beside me. But she was much younger and energetic back then

Yep he/she took the other one I had on there altogether, but this one was attached to the Yakima Frontloader - clearly didn't have the "right tool" to do the job efficiently based on this...

In any case, didn't mean to hijack the thread's purpose, just an ask to keep an eye out. Thanks

That's a long way on little legs! Mine will put in 20 on the regular but he has a much longer stride.

Yeah definitely. Unfortunately she won't ride that far anymore, I think I burned her out. I've noticed weather plays a huge role in her distance as well.

Speaking of campfires, please DO NOT bring any firewood from outside of the Pisgah area.

    Purchase or gather locally.

Also when you buy from the guy at the roadside stand, even though he says it's kiln dried (it's not) take two pieces and knock them together. Thud is wet, hollow knock will be low moisture content.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
So I will be hitting those ridge trails in Yancey soon on something new! Well slightly used demo, but new to me!

Middle/Lower Black was in perfect condition today. PR’s all the way down (if you care about that type of thing).

Yesterday somebody mentioned that Black -> Avery was getting reworked? Is it fun to ride the backside now? I've only ever ridden it as that doubletrack
