Removing the tail gate, super easy. Phillips head screw driver, 13mm socket (for top 2 bolts), and 15mm socket (bottom bolt).

    20190821_085736.jpg

These are pivot cups that sit inside the tailgate, where you just removed the 15mm bolt. Sticks out a bit...
    20190821_091242.jpg
You can see the bed is concaved, perfect for the pivot cup to fit in. This is where people have trouble removing the tailgate; super easy really, just lift the tailgate upwards, turn at an angle and pull it out.

    20190821_091258.jpg

Wilco supplies a bushing for the bottom mount; found out you use your existing screw for the bottom one.

Where it mounts up in the bed.
    20190821_093836.jpg

First upright mounted, but loosely. You'll see part of the tube protrude at the bottom. This is the same on both sides, but how do you fit the tube over both uprights and tightening the left side bottom bolt?

    20190821_095531.jpg
Mount the other bushing against the bed. This way, you can slide the tube over the already installed upright, and slide the other upright through the tube.

    20190821_101005.jpg

Takes a little bit of manipulation, but the center tube that connects both uprights needs to be centered over the mounting holes. Once you get that lined up, the rest is easy.

105 here today and it's like 55 degrees inside our building...I keep going outside to warm up and then after 5 min I have to go inside to cool off. It's a vicious 1st world problem cycle

they are but they look good when modded a bit, lifted with bigger tires. I like the single paint coating too and not the white roof variety.

But yeah the used prices on them right now are absolutely nuts

Once Toyota stopped selling them people took notice and fell in love with them, drove resale value through the roof. FJs have a cult like following out here, I see them everywhere up in places like Big Bear. Which is kind of interesting given how few of them there really are compared to Tacomas, 4runners, etc.
