There so much wildfire in Alaska that I can probably set meat out on the deck and it’ll be nice and smoky even without a grill.

    Hell yeah we will.

I think this little hiatus on the build will be a good thing. Sit back and brainstorm some more cool stuff to do. I'm way sold on plug welding the side skins and probably the outer skin for the door.

Looking at getting a 5" thermo for the door. Will need a bigger shroud, but I can get some pipe that'll fit it.

I suppose I should document this in the build thread, though. That's what I made it for .

We picked up a waterproof tarp/awning/wing thing for over my outdoor cooking area. The two closest to the shot are just shade screens. Was maybe $40 on Amazon?

There is a 6” piece of pipe on the sea table now. Be a good shroud for the gauge

Holy shit, the people on the GMG bookface page are as bad as the 3rd gen owners here. Dude gets a response in 10 minutes, a free can of paint to match, AND a free item of his choosing and he still isn't happy and thinks he's entitled to a $200 part because he had some paint fade and has to do an easy fix himself.

I think that’s a great response from them. People tend to be a little entitled. I get that the grill was expensive, but it’s an outdoor cooking device. Shits gonna happen. Hell, I kinda wish mine would do something like that so I could get a pizza stone lol

Right? And some of those items they listed for him to choose from are close to $50! And he’s getting them for free! Just crazy. Oh boohoo there is some paint chipped. It doesn’t affect the cooking at all

I read it for entertainment purposes. :) I bet if I cooked eggs in a iron pan on the GMG and took a nice pic, someone would ask for the recipe. It's fried eggs ffs!

I had a Dodge Dakota a very long time ago. The paint peeled and flaked on it, all over. Response from Dodge was crickets. Last Dodge I ever plan to own.

There is one in every group!

You should just leave facebook. I did, it’s wonderful without it in my life.

I only use facebook for the marketplace when I was buying some shit and then for that GMG page. Which I am going to have to leave. So I will be back to visiting the site once every 3 months. I don’t even remember the last time I even commented or posted anything (other than today)

I had great luck with gmg's customer service. I bought my grill used off of CL. Worked great 2 or 3 times then the igniter quit working. I emailed tech support to ask about a replacement and how to get out the old one as it was swollen/rusted? some and wouldn't slide out easily. I told them I wasn't expecting any warranty on it as I bought it used but he insisted on sending me a new igniter and a new temp gauge. My gauge had some moisture in it and I asked about outdoors in a wet state.

Straight up outfit in my book

    The guy above is :frusty:
