People walk into his office and the first thing he says from behind his desk is "I'd stand up to shake your hand but I'm not wearing any pants."

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm not in bad shape, but it was a shock. I've got an interview tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure I could get my old job that I left 4 months ago back. I didn't exactly like that job, but I was smart enough not to burn bridges when I left. They've been acquired by a bigger fish, so maybe the backstabbing culture will be on the way out.

Sorry to hear that man! I know what it's like! Get on filing for unemployment NOW! Even though you have a severance package unemployment can take a while. Not sure about Texas, but here in NY I could file online and certify each week online. Made things faster, although due to the circumstances I didn't get unemployment for 2 months. I had to request a hearing when denied. But my former boss never attended or provided evidence against me so the judge just over ruled the denial. :D Of course, I didn't know it would happen or to keep filing after I requested the hearing so I lost about a month and a half's worth of money. :(

Took me 6 months to find another job. It didn't have much potential so 7 months after that I jumped on the opportunity offered to me by my current employer. Five more months and I can start bugging them to go permanent, and get $4/hr more from what I hear. :D Not to mention the benefits.

Thanks, man. I'm actually in really good shape. I've passed two interviews and I'm waiting for official offers. Neither job is ideal, but I'm thankful for having a choice. They're both in a hurry to bring people onboard and already know me.

As a matter of fact they do know that. The job I've left that doesn't have their act together is headquartered in NC. Booyah!

Sorry to hear you lost your job!

I hope these interviews yield you a better one or at least a temporary "okay" one.

I may sound like an idiot. But what makes a "long travel" Taco? What does it mean?
