    OH GOD NO

Please don’t use safelite. You can take my word for it or I can tell you the story of how they fucked up my new truck to the tune of $7500...

An independent glass shop is the only place anyone who cares about their vehicle should consider going.

What's the story? I've always had a good experience with safelite. And yes @95tojo it is too far now for a simple seal lol just wait till you shatter it at ATR and get it replaced afterwards. Just dont tell them you were wheeling when it happened lol.

I learned a whole lot about glass throughout this process...

I had a rear window broken out I had them replace. I took it to their shop so it was done under ideal conditions but the level of incompetence was off the charts

Long story but basically any part they touched, they broke. The window was not installed properly and not fully seated, they dented the cab, scratched the paint in multiple places down to bare metal and broke every piece of plastic in the rear of the cab. As I went through things I found more and more things broken and pieces of glass everywhere from when they shattered what was left removing it. Also keep in mind, the truck was 6 months old

Here’s a couple examples, I have many more pictures.

    BA567070-9B6B-4A87-BFC4-CB56AFB9AD52.jpg
    C8ABA210-6C17-4C45-BE01-295BBDFCAA7E.jpg

I spoke with the manager and I told him this was unacceptable and I’m not sure how a brand new truck was destroyed and returned to a customer in this condition. I had to go get estimates and they ended up paying a shop of my choice to get everything fixed

I had to have the box removed, in addition to the front windshield and rear window for paint. The glass toyota uses has to be cut out and is single use, so a replacement means a new piece of glass. The roof and rear of the cab were repainted and blended. New glass. All new plastic from the b pillar, across the floor and up the c pillar in addition the storage bins as they had damaged the clips (the non replaceable ones) on every piece and I told them I wasn’t going to have a new truck with rattles all over the place as a result or pieces coming off.

It took about 10 days for all of that to be completed.

I spoke to quite a few people and the techs at safelite are basically sent to a 1 day class and then they turn them loose. Anyone that does good work, leaves and opens their own shop.

The other thing (not applicable in my case) - 2018+ trucks have TSS which has to be recalibrated when the windshield is replaced.

That’s the condensed version of the story. Basically don’t go there. It’s not worth it. Cheaper isn’t always better.

Haha no didnt go hog wild yet, saving that stuff till I can make up my mind on what I want/what i can afford lol got the TC bed stiffeners and some much needed LEDs for the turn signals/reverse/brake lights from DiodeDynamics. The turn signals on the tundra have to be some of the worst I've seen, especially the front ones.

I wish diode would make some 7” total housings for a Jeep, I can get everything but a headlight from them. Sadness.

The turn signals are weak sauce. I need to do that too. SDHQ makes some hidden bed stiffeners which is probably the route I’ll go.

That is awful! Yea, wont be taking my stuff there anymore. Guess I'd have to take it into a toyota dealer anyways for the safety sense calibration.

I didnt even think to check SDHQ. I'm going to have to get on their site and do some more digging into what all they have.

Also, @Shellshock do you happen to still have your deck rails from the bed of your truck?

While at SDHQ, you need these sexy battery terminals.

Will be avoiding that stuff for a while, I'm still scarred from the last time I messed with battery related things lol but in all reality probably gonna wait on upgrading the battery until the spring cause I wont have anything that needs more than the starting battery til then.
Lol fair enough, didnt know if you had removed them when putting the shell on or not figured it was worth the ask. Didnt realize they were an option until talking to the dealer after the fact I would have gladly traded the predator steps they included for the deck rails.

Also, I'm done with reading all the stupidity on the tundras forum when it comes to suspension. 90% of the people there are running anywhere from a 4-6 inch nonfunctional setup for mall crawlers. Its obnoxious.
