    Damn, that sucks. There's a metal strip that runs through the weather stripping for whatever reason, so it's recommended to use a leather punch. A little late though.

    I cut that out with tin snips. Marked the spot then used a spade bit on a drill. Maybe if I had a new bit it would have made a better hole. The holes did not come out round and I had to clean them up with a razor. I should have just cut it completely and left a gap for the spacers. Hopefully I can unfuck it on Friday.

    That's we did on @boogie3478 truck. We tried the leather punch but since the weather stripping is barely wider than the punch, it doesn't leave much room for error. We were off so we saved ourselves the hassle and just cut a complete gap. Really can't tell.

    I wondered if there would be a viable market for precut weather strips. Or a short section that is precut that would overlap the OEM strip to cover that gap and give you a much larger margin for error. Cut a 4" gap and then use the premade portion that is 6" long with holes in it and 1.5" "wings" on the end to overlap the part cut by the user.
