Nice! Those will be worlds better than the stock seats.

I’m gonna pull both of my seats tonight to steam clean them and then finally get the seat covers on them later this week. If you want, I can take some pics of the rails for you so you can see how mine ended up.

Yeah man for sure, I'd appreciate that. I am going to test fit mine first and then decide how I want to handle seat repair. I am sure I can find a way to lower them a bit with some fabrication work. I'm stoked that the drivers side has adjustable lumbar too.

this cool place is only ~550 miles away from me, and I have only been around the park 2 or 3 times in 25yrs!, each time the road out to US40 was closed due to the weather
are there ever any 'exclusive 1st gen only gatherings' in eastern CO?
in the central plains here where I'm at the 1st gen community is more or less nil to non-existent, the 2nd and 3rd gens I have met up with on TW are cool dudes but their trucks are highly advanced machines and the tech stuff is way over my head at times and my truck just feels left out lol (if my truck had feelings anyways!)

What do you have to repair on the seats?

And I’m jealous of the lumbar adjustment! The WRX seats are awesome, but oddly enough they only have height adjustment.

    Thanks for stopping by!

I don’t know if any 1st Gen only gatherings here on the Front Range, so I doubt there are any out in eastern Colorado. But you should still go represent for the Best Gens in your area! Be proud of the fact that you actually own a true midsize truck and not a bloated, overly computerized and nannied truck with a damned plastic bed! Just make sure your truck’s rusty frame doesn’t break in half while you’re bragging it up though :D

several mechanics have said it is ok, they have seen worse! i have taken pretty decent care of it over 2 decades i think, just a couple spots is all and trying to figure out how to fix the spots is properly giving me a major headache!

of course Toyota says there is no problem in my area, so i do have that going for me i guess

Had a few hours to kill and I was up in Loveland so I decided to cruise up Big Thompson Canyon and then wander around on some dirt roads. I ended up taking Storm Mountain Road FS128 until just past the junction with FS153 when I had to head back to Longmont.

The road was super washboarded but the impressive views of Mt. Meeker and Longs Peak made it worth it. I also found a sweet campsite with an awesome rock pile to play on.

When I got home, I finally installed the Wet Okole seat covers that I’ve had sitting around for a year or so. I’m looking forward to seeing how much comfier the WRX seats are now. Also, bonus points for having seats that match the rest of the interior again.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned that the spacers supplied with my 1” body lift were too small and that they were punching themselves into the sheet metal cross brace under the bed. So much so that the body lines where the bed meets the cab are noticeably off.

My solution was to fab spacers that were wider in both dimensions. The ones supplied by Daystar have a load bearing surface that is only 1.25” square, but the new spacers are all made out of 2x1 1/8” wall tubing. The two forward mounts are now seven inches long and the two in the rear are two inches long. I also capped off the open ends of the spacers, welded them, ground them flat, and painted them.

They turned out pretty decent, I think. It’s little projects like this that make me happy that I have the tools to do shit like this!

The last piece of the puzzle is some UHMW shim that I’ll use to fine tune the body lines. It’s really good stuff that can hold up to the loads between the bed and the frame.

I’ve seen several pics lately where people have put in the time/money/effort and came out with some really clean installs. It’s doable! I just didn’t care enough to try more than I did. Haha.

Nice work! I really need to fix my bed issues. I'm thinking about making all new bed crossmembers that add the 1" height and add strength to the bed. The current crossmembers are to far gone at this point. I don't have access to the tools I used to so I'll try and limp it along some more.

That was totally directed back at myself, man! Yours turned out really nice! I just see all of you guys getting yours installed and mines still on the shelf :(

But I’m hoping that I get mine in over Christmas break when I don’t have to deal with school. I went back and forth with myself a ton over whether or not to do the crawl box or the rear shock relocation and frame stuff this spring, and the shocks were definitely the right call. It was still TOUGH putting off the crawler, though.

I took it how you meant it.

Seriously though, the guys who are having the custom shift boots made end up looking almost factory. You should check into it. So clean.

Yeah, your spacers has fully punched through the crossmember, right? I got lucky and mine are just starting to dimple a bit but I’m sure they would end up like yours eventually. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what your fix is when the time comes.

Oh, and congrats on the new job and new town!

Yes, had one completely punch through then added some 3/16 plate to help disperse the weight a little better until I could get around to doing something like you just did. But after the last trip I lost a spacer and noticed the center crossmember is cracked on both sides as well. So the whole bed will be coming off and new crossmembers made along with raising the fuel tank.

Thanks! So far everything is great out here!

Got the bed spacers in after scrambling to find some 10.9 bolts that were 10mm longer. Turns out there’s a kickass fastener store that specializes in metric just down the hill from my house. The bolts were literally 20% of what they would have cost me at Fastenal

Anyway, the 1x2 rectangular tube spacers and the 1/4” UHMW shims worked perfectly for getting the body lines between the bed and the cab to line up again. You can see in the pics below that the bed line was almost 1/2” below the cab line on the driver side and around 1/4” on the passenger side.

This was a cool little project and I like how it improved the truck both structurally and aesthetically. Now I need to save up for a drill press and vise and get away from using a hand drill for this shit.

I didn’t take any wide angle pics of the truck before the work, but you can see it in the pictures below, especially on the driver side. You can see exactly how much in the close ups.

It's very subtle but once you point it out it's hard to not see it. I always hate those type of issues but it's very satisfying when it's fixed. Looks a ton better

    Thanks, Josh!

And yeah, it was only gonna get worse up to the point where the shitty Daystar spacers finally punched through the bed crossmember. It’s nice to have it fixed finally.
