I know that you are right, and that it only takes a second, but do really hate straightening stems/bars! My OCD seems to make it take longer than it should.

I’m sure you could make some marks and just realign it to those marks each time instead of eye balling it. A strap from the front wheel to the down tube or rear wheel should keep the front wheel straight.

totally agree, also i am big on torquing these to the correct spec so as not to damage parts and more importantly if it's ever too loose... a turning handlebar mid landing is a recipe for disaster. would rather set it and forget it but personal preference for sure.

Awesome, are you happy with the yakima bars? I am deciding if I should get the Beef Bars or Yakima.

I have the yakima bars, i kinda think for loading kayaks or canoes (anything with rocker) you need the yakima bars to keep the curve of the boat from contacting the roof since the beef bars are so low profile

I completely understand not wanting to tweak the angle of your bars on every trip, but it does not require buying a bumper and/or swingout. The nice thing about the 1UP rack is that you can loosen the hitch bolt and slide it 2-3" before locking it down in the receiver. I've ran my 2-bike 1UP rack on three different vehicles, including my Taco DCSB with a Snugtop without any issues.

I have a rocky mounts backstage swing. It holds two bikes. My handlebars are 750mm and they don’t hit.
Don’t have photos right now though...

Sorry if I missed this but thinking of ordering a GFC and one of my concerns is how it will hold up to the mag chloride in Colorado. Does anyone have first-hand experiences with this?

The rusted tubes mentioned are the front hinge tube and rear locking tube. The new versions have been updated to aluminum tubes to avoid rust. I'm waiting on my update and should have it within the next couple weeks.

Mine has spent almost its whole life in Alaska and hasn’t had rust issues with mag chloride. I live in Colorado now and don’t anticipate having any problems here either.

Anyone successfully swap out their foam for something thinner/softer? I have the older, thicker pads. I have a hard enough time closing the tent as it is, and I think once I hardwire some lighting its going to be even tougher. Its fine when I am really careful with folding the tent fabric but it normally takes a lot of adjusting and readjusting, which is super annoying when your buddies are waiting for you to break camp.

    It's DLX son!
Does this honestly take you longer than 1 minute? How are your buddies ready so much faster?

In terms of dealing with a sleeping space to go from sleeping to driving I don't see how it could get much faster unless I was driving a van (i.e. just close the doors and go).

Are you lollygagging around doing other things all morning? (not saying there is anything wrong with that)

I've had mine since December and havent noticed any rust yet. I'm a weekend warrior, so have a fair amount of winter exposure. Havent picked up the boeshield yet but hope that keeps it clean.

I have an early model with the thick foam and first gen tent and don’t have problems closing the tent. I’ve been living out of my truck for the past month and it takes less than a minute at most to close it all up.

On GFC's instagram stories today there's that Raptor being opened by a chick. What color are those side panels? I feel like that could look great with MGM.

Im glad you are happy with your GFC. Mine can take 5 - 10 minutes to get the tent fabric just right, and as you can imagine, it can get quite frustrating. Mine is super hard to close for some reason and I think some thinner foam would help. I also believe experiences like mine are the reason GFC moved to thinner foam to begin with. I came here for experiences with DIYing thinner foam, not to hear how perfect yours is or to be accused of "lollygagging."

I believe this is what you are seeing. This is an unpainted version of the GFC. Last I inquired about this, they only sell painted panels.

I think theyre black? On the owners page here’s a video of the truck and it looks like black panels at the beginning but the end almost looks grey. Hmm
