    Here’s a story from college...

I don’t remember when exactly this happened, but I do know that it was after I got my driver’s license (May 2011) but way before I graduated (May 2015).

The moral of this story is that so-called bachelor/bachelorette auctions are a crock of shit!

I think it was Valentine’s Day (another crock in it’s own right; My parents have been married 31 years and don’t make a big deal out of it). Bucks County Community College had this bachelorette auction in the cafeteria. I went just for the hell of it, and I lost the first auction, which was for a full-figured blonde. The second one was an attractive and very tall black woman. For some reason, nobody was bidding on her. She was getting desperate, giving the audience a shocked “WTF?” look while gesturing for them to bid.

I put up like five bucks and won, and she she sat down with me and chatted briefly but wouldn’t really give me the time of day. She seemed distracted.

A short time later, another girl showed up. She was a white girl with an average body, and not exactly attractive. She had glasses and was wearing a suit and tie. Long story short: One look at this girl and you knew she was a lesbian. Everyone knows what a drag queen is; I guess you would call her a drag king based on the way she was dressed.

So, this chick in the suit and tie is a lesbian, and the tall black girl is her girlfriend. As far as lesbians go, they were total opposites in terms of looks. The black girl had put herself up for auction, and her girlfriend in the suit was supposed to pay like $45 (which she believed nobody else would have been willing to pay). Nobody counted on the girl in the suit being held up at her previous class and showing up late. The black girl completely ignored me once her girlfriend showed up, and I left feeling rather jilted...

So yeah, bachelor/bachelorette “auctions” are scams!

They oughta call the company Shitsubishi. With the exception of the Lancer Evo, and maybe the Montero, Mitsubishi hasn’t made any noteworthy vehicles in about twenty years.

Furthermore, Mitsubishi dealers have resorted to a “we’ll finance anyone” approach. A dealer in my area, Springfield Mitsubishi, proudly states in its obnoxious radio commercials that they’ll take just one dime down (as in 10 cents). They’ll also approve anyone who makes at least $350 a week for up to a $30,000 loan, even on the amazing (sarcasm) all-new Eclipse Cross! The Eclipse Cross, contrary to the history of its nameplate, is just mediocre and oddly styled crossover with less than 150hp.

A friend of mine has a 2013 Outlander Sport that she likes, and with AWD the thing is a mountain goat in the snow. However, from what I’ve read the Outlander and Outlander Sport are mediocre at best.

The 3-banger Mirage makes even a no-frills Yaris seem like a Rolls-Royce by comparison!

And what else have they offered recently? That shitty i-Miev or whatever it’s called, that makes a Nissan Leaf look like a Rolls-Royce?

Seriously? What the hell happened to Mitsubishi?

Have you ever seen a Montero sport that didn't have a cloud of smoke coming out the tailpipe?

    Me neither.

I don't know.... Top Gear did favor the Evo over the Subi STI every time they did a face off between the two.

Lol we have a 2004 lancer LS sportback (the most hideous wagon ever made) and it’s a solid car. 188k on it and starts and runs smooth everyday. Minor maintenance but besides that the car has been bulletproof. Definitely a no frills car but for why we bought it I can’t complain

They are a low end car manufacturer.

As my Japanese ex-wife used to tell me, Mitsubishi in Japan is like a Kia here, cheap throw away cars for poor people. Even the lancer is a pile of crap. As she said only Americans buy these things, only good product is the large box trucks.

Yep....Diamond Star Motors, I think it was called.

The Chrysler Sebring and Mitsu Galant were mechanical cousins and were built on the same line in Illinois.

All of the 2nd gen non turbo Eclipses shared their engine with the Dodge/Plymouth Neon.

    The Chrysler's 3.0 V6 of the 80s and 90s was a Mitsu mill.

The Dodge Raider (original one) and Colts were rebaged Mitsu products. Dodge also built another Railder later on for Mitsu that was a rebaged Dakota.

There were several other things I'm sure I'm missing.

I liked the Mitsu Mighty Max back in the day. Small, simple and clean like all Japanese trucks were back then.

And Dodge's rebaged version called the D50

Mitsubishi along with Isuzu have always had a foothold in the commercial truck industry, and still do. Isuzu got out of the consumer side(in America)in the early 2000s but Mitsu stuck around. I had a pretty nice Trooper:crapstorm:IMAG0009.jpg

I almost bought an Evo X several years ago. I got in it and was completely put off by the interior basically being everything out of a base lancer. Plastic everywhere, not even soft touch stuff or pleather. And those were 40k new. Fast cars, good to race if youre gonna gut them, but even the "good mitsubishi" was still cheap feeling. Ended up in a top trim GTI for cheaper.

That said, Id still go nuts on a VR4 project car if I happened on one for cheap.
