TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Lotek and new custom speedhut gauges arrived.

Anyone have issues with the holes not being big enough on the Lotek for the gauges? And yes I ordered the right size.

 

I did a write up on mine that I’ve shared with some people. In it I stated that you’ll have to use a dremel to slightly make the holes bigger. Just go slow and a little bit at a time.

 

easy enough. Mainly wanted to see if this was common before I hit them up. Figured it may be the case. Thanks @JuanitoBunito

It depends what type of belt you use bud. Slip seems to be a hit or miss on every supercharged truck on here. If you don't have it (which you do not know if you do yet because your blower isn't on) them you gotta run the wraps if you do. If you don't there is no sense in adding additional rotating mass which can cause noise and bearing failure later which becomes harder to track. Me personally I don't have it so I don't run the wrap mods. The style belt helps a lot or doesn't as well because the RPM and Fleetrunner series are gummy and allow for additional traction on the pulleys otherwise not seen by a traditional style belt.

 

With all this talk of 2.5s I want a smaller pulley.... anyone here in CA go through SMOG with non-oem pulley other than stealth URD?

I thought I read earlier that you don’t need bigger injectors for 2.7, is that correct? I’m not quite ready to deal with 2.5 pulley wrap issues so think 2.7 will be great upgrade although I’m already 2.85. ( I hate changing S/C belt).

I’ve already got fuel pump installed and 70mm TB. I have a UCON ready to install once I have chance to do my cam gears. What else do I have to do for 2.7 (bigger injectors??). I’ve been thinking shorty headers soon too.

I thought 7th injector was required per Gadget, but maybe we understand the tunes better now? Sorry if this is in this thread somewhere

XPOs boss still has not looked at the CAD designs to quote time and materials pricing to produce it yet.

 

I do think I remember having to ream out the holes a little.

Also, the bezel from one of the gauges I had to remove to get it to fit all the way in. Kinda ghetto but it had to be done. It looks like you might have that problem as well.

 

Lotek has QC issues. My gauges were snug, but fit. Thankfully, didn't need the rear lock rings, since at least one of them didn't fit.

I used the same bit for required adjustment of A-pillar grab bar mounting holes.

 

yah pretty sure I will run into that as well but damnit I will make it fit. They also seemed to start spraying the color darker now. def a big color difference, but if it bothers me nothing some paint cant fix.

Interesting. Sounds like they have similar QC/consistency issues in the paint department. I've read several reports, like yours, about noticeably darker paint. While mine isn't an exact match, neither is the mismatch a dramatic one. Primarily noticeable in certain light, I don't even notice it most of the time.

 

yah i saw some of your notes on that so figured worth a minor difference did not quite get that light.
