I have not. But they really seem to like eating that bush by the one on the right.

    Hi all.
Prepping remaining parts and work list for my lift on my Tacoma, but still need a body chop done. A local buddy hooked me up with the guy that did a great job on his body chop, but I talked to him and he moved recently a couple hours away so need to find someone/someplace else that can do it. Anyone know a solid 4x4 shop (or single person) that has good experience doing Tacoma body chop for 33s in NOVA area? So far I've heard good recommendations for Off Road Innovations but they're 1.5hr from me (I'm in Woodbridge) so looking for something closer if possible.

    Thanks.
    Adam

I'm on 33's (well technically 285x70x17) in a 3rd Gen. My lift is a standard OME kit giving roughly 2.5" front and 2" rear. No chop was required, and I don't have any rubbing. That said, I have firm struts, the tires are new, and I haven't been on a trail yet.

I've heard great things about Iron Pig Offroad in Fredericksburg (South Stafford) small shop of enthusiasts with their focus being Toyotas. I see a bunch of Land Cruiser stuff on their FB page and some Tacoma/Tundra work. I've yet to check them out but they're about 10 min from my neighborhood.

I have heard the opposite of good things about those guys. @buyobuyo went through quite the ordeal with them. Not saying they couldn't handle a CMC. Just sayin'. :notsure:

I think they both had significant issues. I tagged Jeremy.

Understood, I have heard good things, but primarily from someone who was excited to tell me there was a Toyota enthusiast shop local to me. Their reviews don't reflect too many bad experiences, but I went to college with Jeremy and would value his opinion/experience over the recommendation I received, as his is first hand.

I haven't been around long enough to hear the stories...but now that you mention it I feel like I came across some frustrations with a shop messing stuff up, just can't remember if that was the one I'm thinking of.

I'm sure that Chaos Fab in Winchester would do a fabulous job... (https://chaosfabshop.com/)

Yes, unfortunately our local CMC guy, @RandyFab (sad to see this account has been inactive) a/k/a @EatSleepTacos moved away. Maybe @fatfurious2 is up to the task?

Okay cool that's very close to exactly what I'm doing. Wanted to do 285/75/17 but those are 34s and I've learned that they will cause some additional complications in long run compared to 285/70/17 33s so I'm leaning toward that to keep things simple and easier to maintain etc.
Which coil did you use with the firm struts? Did you do firm struts because you have a lot of weight up front?
Also I ride a lot of trails so rubbing might be more prominent for me than someone that doesn't as often like you mentioned.

Wow that's an old post of mine, like 2 years ago! I was so young and innocent then. Now I'm not thinking twice about doing body chop if I get that sweet sweet clearance I need!
