forgot to add that there is also a break in period I've noticed my mileage go up after I broke past 25k miles... bought mine with 20k miles on it, and MPG was around 16-18MPG, but now getting solid 18's and higher...

Yup, mine gets 11-12mpgs on the highway driving from RGV to San Antonio. Its flat af down here. I am doing 80mph, but still, 11-12mpgs is much less than what I expected.

Some of that could be Learned Value adaptation to your driving style.

IMG_1610.jpg I'm getting this consistently on my drive to and from work. But, I loose about 5 MPG when my wife drives the Taco.

These are in a TRD SPORT 6MT AC 4x4. Everything stock with OEM Goodyear Wrnagler Kevlar ATs from the TRD OR. Driving 65mph with no AC at night time with very little traffic. The trips were Thousand Oaks to Fallbrook, CA twice in one day. One way was about 140miles and 280miles for a round trip for a total of 560 miles travelled in one day.

I just filled up yesterday, went 406 miles and the tank worked out to 22.1 MPG, don't think that bad.

All I'm saying it almost every single time someone is complaining about really bad mileage, it's an OR owner.

I don't know if it's the truck, the the demographic that owns it maybe having a heavier foot, but it's almost always an OR.

It shouldn't be that shitty. I'm guessing operator error. There is no reason for you to be turning 5K on the tach. Inflate the tires to 40 PSI or close to it, keep the tach under 3K, and closer to 2K as much as possible. Let the speedometer fall where it falls and don't worry about keeping up with traffic on inclines. I don't know the altitude there, but you lose 3% of your engine power for every 1000' above sea level. Unless you have lots of power to spare you can't do 70 on inclines at altitude.

When driving in mountains you will see reduced MPG's going up hill. But greatly increased MPG's on the downhill stretches. In fact I usually get better overall fuel mileage in mountains. It will burn some gas on a 20 mile incline till I hit the crest, but the next 20 miles coasting down the other side more than offsets the extra fuel going up. Getting 16 mpg going one way up hill isn't bad. But if you figure it for the round trip I bet you're well over 20 mpg.
