Not sure where you think it rains all of the time. On and off for 3 months out of the year is NOT all of the time.
Average anual rainfall as observer from 1921 - 2006 according to noaa.gov
    Los Angeles - 15.5

    Sacramento - 17.93

So I am not sure what math you use but the difference of 2.43 inches per year is not ALL OF THE TIME!!! but that's just my .02 cents.

Alright what we have here Ca. is really two different states. Personally So Cal sucks a$$. Smog, and a ton people.

I live in Nor cal and I like here, house are down to about 150k were I live. Sales tax sucks but deal with it. You can commute to the Gay Bay for a construction job, or try to find one in the valley. Further north you the less populated it gets.

Here in Nor Cal we have Tahoe, Yosemite, Mt. Shasta, the Rubicon, and a ton of 4x4 trails. And the weather Is great Except summer is 105+, but I like the winters.
    but agian L.A. Sucks.

I have a question for the NorCal people. Why do Norcal people dislike LA? I like SF, Sonoma, Sacremento. You've got some really cool spots up there. I like LA too, I was born in SF, moved to Chicago, and now in LA and I dont get it. Alot of LA people think NorCal is really cool

yea but our rain all comes within a week. ur rain is all year long pretty much. whether its hard rain or not, it still rains up there all the time. when we get rained it just pisses it all out in couple days, then no more rain for the rest of the year

that may do the trick until I can afford a bigger place. any idea what property tax is on a house like that? mine just went up from a cheap 4300 to 5400 :(

I have a dog so if i rent or buy, i would need some sort of yard. I dont like cloudy, sorry :) I like sunny. I like warm. I dont like swealting hot though. If anyone ever lived in IL, especially chicago you can contest to the 30 degree change in temps over night and during the day. it gets into the 90s in summer with a humidity so thick you can cut it with a knife. winter time can get into the single digits and windchills well below 0. it really limits your activities and getting up at 3am to shovel the driveway so you can go to work at 5 really gets old quick. There are really only 3 months out of the year that you can wear a tshirt outside and be comfortable.

the biggest factor that would make me not want to move out there is family- everyone is here in chicago. not sure that i could just up and move and not see them weekly like i do now....plus the whole job thing. i have a big mortgage that i cant just start skipping payments on. and i am not ready to sell my house here unless i was for sure going to live in cali.

her place has a pretty good size yard for our rat terrier. and i can also find out about the property tax for yah. in the sacramento area our summers are really hot, in the 90s and 100s most days and our winters are really cold but no snow obviously.

I would have to respectfully disagree that it rains all year long. For example it rained for about 6-8 hours overnight earlier this month. Prior to that it was earlier may since we got the last rain. That is about 5 months with no rain. If you are talking about the coast then I agree that it is gloomy and foggy all of the time, but that is not all of northern California.
