I've been running the SPCs for +3 years now with no issues.

I'd suggest using channel locks to bend the fenders so you can remove the UCA bolts...no need to cut and install new bolts backwards...spend that money on beer or gas instead.

Yes they’re are bolts that could cause issues if they fall off. But don’t give poor advice by doing something incorrectly that could cause a bad accident because you didn’t want to take the time to do it correctly. If you want to do that that’s fine but don’t recommend doing something wrong.

Doesn’t make right. You’re telling someone to do something incorrectly. That bolt for some crazy reason falls out and he wrecks and kills someone and insurance does an inspection and says who put these bolts in backwards, we not covering shit( worse case scenario). Like I said before if you want to do it wrong that’s fine just don’t tell someone else to improperly. At least give the correct advice.

Then don't lift your truck, don't chop the cab mount, don't install aftermarket bumpers, just drive it as is. Because all of these things could kill you if "some crazy reason" happened. I'm not hacking up my sheet metal to put a bolt in when I could easily just put it in the other way with thread locker.

Or you can do it the right way with a little extra time.

A fucking cmc can’t possibly make you crash. Just cause your to damn lazy to massage inner sheet metal to put the bolt correctly, doesn’t mean you should advise someone else to do it wrong.

It doesn't even take any extra time to do it the right way.

If you're hacking up your sheet metal you are doing it wrong. Just bend it with some channel locks and if it bothers you you can bend them back once you install the bolt. And I find it ironic that you wheel your truck but are worried about bending the sheet metal a bit in a very controlled manner.o_O

Well of course I'm going to avoid damaging the truck if I can. And I dunno what's different from mine to yours, but there was no amount of bending that was getting my sheet metal out of the way. I tried. It was not bending any more without cutting it. Clearly we disagree. All good. Maybe my control arm will fall off tomorrow.

There have to be a hundred bolts that could hypothetically "fail" and be catastrophic.

That said, I also did it from the correct angle.

If the UCA failed, wouldn't the wheel still be attached and steerable?

I'm too fucking lazy? Get off your high horse bro. There was no amount of bending that was going to make it happen. Maybe it's the difference between 2nd and 2.5 gen. I dunno, but bending wasn't gonna do it. Nor was "lightly massaging" it.

No. The upper ball joint is attached to the steering knuckle. The upper and lower ball joint are the axis points in which the the steering knuckle pivots, so when the uca comes off that pivot point is gone. It would be just like if a ball joint broke.

Correct advice comes from manuals. Questionable advice comes from forums.

I've been running them for a few years now. I had a few issues with their older version, but I will say that SPC's customer service is pretty much top notch. Happy with the product.

another vote for jba. also concur that you should get a set of the UCA bolts to make removal / installation easier.

I have freedom off road UCAs. No issues. I do a lot of off-roading too. Did the rimrocker trail earlier this year, and easy rock crawling in moab too. Aside from off roading, I'm a fairly tame driver in town, so I do know how these will hold up for those of you that get a feisty in traffic.
