It’s got a 30 day warranty with free return.
I’m just gunna throw it in and see if it works. If not I’ll send it back and get my money.

Couldn’t find anyone in my area with same truck to swap with to test. Visually it appears fine so I figured fuck it. If it doesn’t work send it back. Worth a shot

Hopefully it’s my saving grace. If not, return it and back to the drawing board. :notsure:

Have you looked on eBay to try and find a match for your truck?

I'm going to laugh when it turns out all that was causing this is a broken motor or trans mount.

    Update:

Dude hooked his scanner up and drove the truck today to monitor pressure after installing the valve body to compare to the perimeters prior. The pressure is releasing now that the new valve body has been installed but the main problem still persists.

*only when the trans gets hot does it start malfunctioning*

Tomorrow he’s going to hook up and test fuel pressure while driving. See if there’s any fuel related indications that could cause problems. Just another thing to cross off the list.
After his fuel pressure update tomorrow I plan to pick up the truck and swap ECUs over the weekend to eliminate any “what if’s” pertaining to the computer.

That’s what my dad said too. Swap in the parking lot. Test drive, drop back off.
(Assuming the trans is still fucked)

Yeah it’s pretty straightforward. Behind the glove box unhook the plugs, pull ECU, transfer brackets reinstall.

Could be a loose connection or broken solder joint on some electrical board.
    Keep us posted!!

Will do! At this point it’s a game of eliminating what if’s. Wish I would’ve gone with a different transmission shop but this guy is working to help me narrow down the problem so I’m making the best of what I got.

    Will advise!

Excuse my bluntness but this mechanic sounds like he couldn't find his ass if it had a bell on it, the kind of guy that can swap parts but can't diagnose his way out of a wet paper sack. I would hook the truck from him, demand a refund and take it to a shop that knows what they're doing. If he won't give you your $$ get ahold of the state BAR and let him know that's what you're planning to do. It probably IS a difficult diagnosis to make which is why you need a sharp mechanic to work on it. I'm patient on a difficult repair if it takes a couple visits to get it fixed but you're pushing 4-5 months and it doesn't sound like this clown is any closer to actually fixing the problem.

I completely agree. At this point he’s buying parts and doing work for free so I’m going to let him continue to work a process of elimination until we reached a point where he raises his hands and bows out or simply says he can’t help me, at which point I’ll be getting a refund. Whether he gives it me or I take him to small claims. Either way, I’ll get my money back and just buy a new (used) transmission and do the install myself

Pulled the truck from the trans shop. My dads friend has a mechanic shop and they have a transmission guy in house. He’s intrigued and wants to take a look and see what he thinks.

Not sure that was the case here but too many newbies nowadays are thinking their Tacomas are "baja" ready.
