So just for clarification, if I blow into the pcv hose that goes to the throttle body it should be closed right?

Edit - I found the problem and the conclusion is I’m a dumbass :anonymous:

So these are the little things you need to watch out for when adapting one thing from one car to another car.

PCV port at the top right

Blow by coming from the center hole instead of the right side on my Lexus TB

And the end result of a dumbass that isn’t paying attention

    CA4ACAE1-794B-478C-ACB7-8162DCE6F80A.jpg

Ordered a TB meant for the Tundra and hopefully my catch can starts catching stuff.

So help my dumbass out :anonymous:

Is it okay to run my pcv to the catch can then the catch can vent to atmosphere? Only for about a week while I wait for my TB.

Why would you vent to atmosphere?

You CAN do it, but is it a good idea, not really, for a few different reasons.

    Is it a temporary thing?

If so then sure, do it if you need to, but for the long term you shouldn't run it that way.

As temporary as it gets. Soon as my Tundra TB gets here from eBay it’s going right on. I assume VTA is better than how it currently is where the return line runs into a complete stop.

You'll be fine then. It's when it is run as a long term solution that it becomes an issue. Press forward. Lol.

You have me curious though. What bad things can happen? Will my valve cover go bursting through my hood like the kool aid man?

My truck it out of commission too. Bought some new brakes supposed to fit a 4runner. I have 4runner brakes on it now. New setup won't line up. Maybe something if off but for the life of me I can not figure it out or they really just do not fit. Which boggles me since I have been running 4runner brakes for almost 2 years. Its off by 1/8" to 1/4"

Maybe this collective has some bright ideas before I get too livid. =) Fixable by putting the stock ones one and bleeding the brakes but whats the fun in that.

A big brake kit would be a good start

Thats what I am trying to install... the 4runner setup works just fine. Bigger rotors, slightly larger piston.

Adding Wilwood 6 pot calipers to the setup. Uses the 4runner sized rotor which is 338mm.

This has to be the most frustrating part. I can toss the 4runner calipers back on no problem and these are supposed to be setup for the 5th gen 4runner and GX460. They also fit FJ's since they fit 4runner stuff so it should fit on mine but NOOOOOOOOOOO. This was supposed to be an easy one. Even got speed bleeder to make my life easier. Go figure!

I'm not aware of anything bad happening, aside from a possible Check Engine light because the normally "closed" system is "open."

FWIW, I've seen some high-performance applications deliberately replace the "closed" PCV system with a small filter that vents to atmosphere. IIRC, this is how things used to be done, before the EPA got involved in engine design.
