Thanks Jimmy! @N2DesignsInc. He took the time to help me install the remote starter and app on my 2019 taco this weekend. I work 6 nights a week 12hr shifts so my schedule is tight and Jimmy was more than willing to help me at my convenience.
I’m now loving the ability to start my ride from my phone!
    100% satisfied customer here!
    Thanks!

Always wondered about something for the smart control.
I know you can start your truck from anywhere in the world, but can you start it when the truck is somewhere else in the world?
Like if I move to Japan, and bring my truck with me.
Can I still use the smart app to start the truck?

I'd imagine it would need to have network compatibility depending on the version module you have either 3g or 4g to work. Good question, i would guess yes but what ever service you use would charge you more (if they offer it) than for the service in the US. I paid $99 for 3 years for mine, which i though was very reasonable.

I know Kindles that have a similar "free" 3g will work in other countries. But that's Amazon. So i don't see why these wouldn't. Probably just comes down to if your service offers it.

I have the N2 setup with the cell phone module.
Works way better than the OEM version in my 2017 Mercedes GLC300 Coupe. The Mercedes system works about 20% of the time. Complete junk! (The best or nothing...)

I have the 12voltsolutions and it works really well. It had an update sometime this year that made the app load and connect much faster (3-5 seconds) and it's way better now.

Prior too that the app was really slow to launch (3-5 seconds)then connect (5-10 seconds) and that's if it didnt make you type in your log in and password.

Now in about 5 seconds it loads, connects and you can tap start and put the phone in your pocket and you're good to go.

Would it switch to other said service?
Like if it is in the US, it defaults to AT&T or Verizon I believe.
If I go to Japan will it automatically switch to Docomo or Softbank?

There is 3g and 4g is most parts of the world, finding a signal is not an issue, but if the module will actively connect to any network.

Really want the smart function, but I do not want to buy a paper weight...

Won’t work internationally, the chip and the plan is setup with T-Mobile/ATT 4G/LTE and unlike your cellular plan for your phone, it doesn’t have international roaming as it’s a pre-fixed service plan, meaning you can’t roam and get a bill for roaming. So no. This is why we don’t sell to Canada or anywhere a vehicle wouldn’t be located in the 50 states. The vehicle must be in the USA. You and your phone as you mentioned, could be anywhere in the world. Hope this helps.

I wanna say thanks to Jimmy at N2. His product does what it's supposed to do, great price and easy install. Anyone with a base SR with a standard key looking for a remote start, look no further. This is the remote for you. Fantastic offline support as well.

@N2DesignsInc - I'm researching remote starts for my 19 SR5. I haven't read through this entire thread. But looks like your dominating the latter posts. I currently using Verizon and been with them for many years. I understand, your system doesn't fully support other networks? So - just wondering if there are any plans to expand the product line so that they are "more compatible" with "other networks"?
    Thanks for your response.

Not true at all. Let me clear up the wording here as there are two things you might be mixing up.

Remote Start - Not a data device, uses your fobs to remote start. Range is fob to vehicle range. OEM range is whatever your OEM fob range is without a remote start, doesn't change, or, 0.5 miles if it's our long range fob provided kit for base Tacomas that never got fobs from the dealer). The Remote Starters are not data devices. They run off the fobs, meaning they don't have any long running costs to use, no plans, no activation, nothing. Buy it once, install it once, use it free, forever. Remove it, and put it on your next vehicle (new plug 'n' play harness provided one is available, and a simple re-flash of the module needed for new vehicle).

Smart Module - It does not matter who your PHONE's service provider is. Got ATT, VERIZON, T-MOBILE, SPRINT (feel sorry for you) or any American service provider and a smart phone, great. Doesn't matter. You don't need the same service provider to talk to this device at all. Here is the analogy to help clear up things for ya...If you've got ATT and your friend has Verizon and you both live in different states, one has android and the other has an iphone, does your text message not get sent and read back and forth? ATT users aren't restricted to texting (using data) to only ATT users, right? Same concept.

Secondly, our smart module, NOT REMOTE STARTS mentioned above, require the data plan (free first year, $39.99 a year there after or $99.99 for 3 years, price does not change and lowest on the market for a 4G/LTE data device). This module plugs INTO the remote starter above, it doesn't even know what vehicle it's in. So that to can be removed and put on your next vehicle. This module connects to ATT/Tmobile towers via 4G/LTE connectivity but this doesn't mean anything more than great coverage. There is not device out there that connects to an AT&T, Verizon or Sprint tower at the same time or toggles back and forth. It sticks with whatever chip-set it was manufactured with. Like your phone, if you have Verizon, it connects to only Verizon in the USA and your monthly cell bill comes from Verizon. If wherever you're at, Verizon has iffy coverage, it DOES NOT jump on a Sprint tower. You'll just have poor service or less bars.

I think you might've read about Verizon's 3G sun-setting? But even that will not affect the previous generation of smart modules out there (which we haven't sold since last November). We're only selling 4G/LTE smart modules, but I'm not sure if you're talking REMOTE STARTERS or SMART MODULES. Two completely different devices.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Thanks for your reply. Somewhat helps.

I recall reading where a Verizon customer had difficulty with your product? Could have been service, maybe? Then I recall reading where the Mobile App looses some functionality when not connected to ATT / 3G? (you do specifically mention these providers quite a bit).

    Please elaborate?

    Thanks Again.

Side Note: Verizon customer for a very long time. Totally satisfied.

If a Verizon customer had an issue November 2018 or before, it was his location of either his phone AND/OR the previous generation smart modules, which again, has not been sold by us since last November. If a Verizon customer has an issue today, it's his phone's coverage, not our device. The previous generation smart modules used Verizon 3G. The ones we've been selling (ONLY ones) since December '18 are T-Mobile 4G/LTE. You can always check the T-Mobile 4G/LTE coverage map for your area and places you frequent to ensure coverage. It is one of the best currently. Your Verizon phone will still work fine with our device. Your provider brand doesn't need to match up to the device's provider (T-mobile). Again, the analogy that you and your friend don't need to both have Verizon plans to send texts to each other right? You can still send texts to an ATT friend right? This is no different. You're sending a command (start/stop, lock/unlock) instead of a text. Think of it that way. You will have no issues unless T-Mobile coverage 4G/LTE isn't great in your area. Haven't had one of those yet, as rural as some of my customers live too!

You like Verizon, I can tell. Stick with it and still use the device, this has no effect on anything.

After all the reading I’ve never read this part. Is there a device that uses the att network yet? Tmobile is dead zone after dead zone where I live and att is the best coverage of everyone (if all companies maps are truthful)

Yes. It actually uses BOTH towers (ATT & T-Mobile), I've already dug into this...and in fact I'm pretty sure I mentioned it many times before...quite a few times. Go to the first post on this page, mine, post #161. It's also mentioned on our website. What you read is me giving someone an example that he's not limited to what his cell phone provider is nor does it have to match the provider of our product.

    upload_2019-8-25_5-41-42.jpg

Here is a good website to use, it even shows towers, proximity to you, type of tower (i.e. LTE, etc, and strength)...you can do it for both ATT and T-Mobile 4G/LTE or you can just go to ATT and T-Mobiles website and search that way. But the linlk below is more bad a$$

Hey Jimmy! I just bought my first Tacoma, its a 2020 dclb OR w/Premium features. I have the TPMS, PTS, Smart FOB. It doesn't look like you have an option on your website for the 2020 SmartKey? Stops at 2019... Can you point me in the right direction? #TakeMyMoneyPlease

Hiya, any word on 2020 yet? Looks like it's listed but cannot be selected from your website. I have auto/PTS, no packages (no remote connect, oh well).
