You heard right. It is a hell hole run by so many incompetents. Don't go there unless you like risking your life.

I'm sure you realize I was talking about the type of rust that people actually need to worry about. Of course superficial surface rust can appear overnight. But that can be wiped off with a brillo pad...

This is the rust on my frame, and it's taken more than a decade for it to get to this point. I'm not freaking out over it...

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Don't drive it, buy a beater Subaru or Camry and use that in winter is my vote! If you want it to last, cars on the coast only have a average lifespan of 5 years before rust makes them unsafe to operate.

was looking into that, dont know much outside of my truck but whats a good thing to look for with those? I personally love the coupe 2nd/3rd gen Camrys. Part of me wanted to buy a beater and leave my truck in Cali with my parents for the first year. realistically have a budget around $3-4k.

One thing that helps with rust is running a good set of Tacoma tire chains, keeps rust from forming on the rims and then crawling up the axles into the body and frame.

If you want to keep it nice then park it in the winter. I have a 65 Galaxie 500 that I drive until Halloween and then it gets put away until Mid April or when they stop salting the roads. Also wait for a good rain to wash the salt away. Where you are moving must not be to bad. I see a lot of solid Maryland cars coming up here from the auctions. I live in Ohio.
I pressure wash the frame on my 17 Tacoma every week during the winter when I wash my truck to try to keep the salt off it. I'm trying to make it last longer than me. I'm 60 and my truck still hasn't broke 23000 miles. Not sure which one of us will outlast the other.

    is it called flash rust?

Rust Bloom is a general term used in the corrosion and coatings industry. ... It is the term used when steel cleaned by dry abrasive blasting, power tools, or wet abrasive blasting begins to rust after the steel surface has completely dried. Flash Rust often looks like Rust Bloom

I know, I’ve been there. I’m saying inner harbor not so bad, especially if you stay right on the Main Street, otherwise don’t drift too far away.

Don’t forget to head up this way for a little breathing room from time to time.
You could even look at the bright side of winter and do some skiing or something ;)

U gonna love snow driving it’s fun

Unfortunately I work in Baltimore city, live in Baltimore county. I bought a place in the mountains of WV to escape the Baltimore bs. As already mentioned buy yourself a cheap winter beater, this salt brine that the state uses is hard on vehicles.
