Sweet, If i had a raptor I'd run a white and selective sae and a spot or the new dually pro driving in the pocket. My 13 Fx4 just has the round fog. I'll grab the white and run covers I'd needed. I have a set of D2 driving cubes on my a pillar mounts, I do notice they are not as "white" or warm as my D3S hids, but help see deer a lot easier. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm going to be selling my new white set (1 of them pictured above). Had them on my truck for 1 week while @crashnburn80 had my preproduction set of selective yellow to compare against the production model. Probably have 30 minutes on them. If interested let me know.

I know they were working on a warmer white model but wasn’t aware they changed the production line yet. I’ll have to ping them for details.

I'm assuming that the difference in color , warmer/cooler, when using a amber cover it would produce a different temperature of amber?

So I assume if someone orders a set of rigids they should be the warmer color tone? Or is there a possibility of getting thr older set and sending them to rigid to upgrade? I recently got a amazing gift card at work and want to use it to help buy a set of rigids but I want the newer version. The seller is rigid industries so I'm hoping it's the newer revision.

You can ask them to verify that the one they are selling is the new version.

Quick question, when you guys replace your OEM fogs with 2 sets of lets say Rigid D Series fogs (88 watts per side) is a relay required? I actually have a 2005 Tundra but I imagine the wiring is very similar on a Tacoma. The wire that goes to the stock fogs looks like a very small gauge of wire.

D-series are 22w each, 44w for a set. Meaning running 2 on a side is 44w per side. Stock fog circuit on a Tacoma is designed for a 55w H11, so even with 2 lights per side it is less power draw than stock. If the Tundra came with an H11 fog option in one of the models, you’ll be fine.

Related/Unrelated - While researching Off Road use lights, not to be swayed by the "raw lumen" numbers, I should be more concerned with "lux" and "beam pattern" and "beam distance".

Or did I learn nothing from all your hard work?

If you are comparing across brands it can be pretty challenging. Raw lumens is a starting point, but not apples to apples, and if comparing efficient reflector based lights to pods/bars, it can be very misleading. Beam pattern needs to be the same for an relevant comparison, but even that can very significantly as demonstrated by Bajas fog light vs Rigid. Bajas covers way more area, so even though their light is higher output, Rigid is brighter in the light pattern area. Lux/candela is only helpful if you have a measurement from the same distance with the same type of pattern. Beam distance is often the max point at which 1 candela can be measured. This can be useful, but a pattern that is more focused such as hyper spot will have a better distance than one that covers slightly more area with all other things being equal, so it doesn’t tell the whole story. Some sites like KC Hilites do an excellent job in documenting their light performance with good data for each light, making it easier to compare different lights they offer to each other. But the competition needs to do an equal job presenting the data to compare brands, and realistically few present data in that level of detail, which was one of the drivers for this thread. It may be easiest to ask about which off road lights you are considering. :)

Oh I forgot to mention color temp, but here are the lights I am comparing:

    KC Gravity Pro6
    Rigid D-XL Pro
    Rigid D-SS
    BD LP6 Pro

I'll start by saying I plan on eventually adding the Gravity Pro6 LED Driving lights.

Compare specs from KC and Rigid for Driving pattern:
    Rigid D-XL Pro - Driving: 89w, raw lumen 9504, lux@10m 638, beam distance 252M
    KC Gravity Pro6 - Driving: 20w, raw lumen 2300, lux@10m 1,310, beam distance 724M

You can see the KCs are far more efficient due to their reflector design. Large reflectors are vastly superior in focusing and projecting light over distance than forward facing LEDs in a pod like housing. The drawback is of course large reflectors are well, larger. You'll note in this fog review the KC G4s are one of the lowest powered and lowest raw lumen output lights, yet they perform near the top of the group in projected output, because of their highly efficient reflector based design. And larger reflectors are more efficient and more effective than smaller reflectors. I personally like the round reflector look better, but that is subjective personal tastes. KCs also has a best in class color temp of 5000k. The Rigid D-SS are lower output than the XL, and Baja's LP6 Pro advertise similar raw power and wattage to the Rigid XLs, though they do not provide detailed specs like KC and Rigid who do a great job in documenting their product performance.

The light selection does depend on your intended use and desired beam pattern though, which you did not mention. If you are looking for ditch lights for example, the Pro6 would not be a good fit due to their size.

As always, thank you for hard work!

No ditch lights, these would be mounted on top of the front bumper, I figured a driving pattern as opposed to a spot or wide.

I am still not sure how I feel about roof rack mounted lights, what are your thoughts?

I have a set of dually d2 driving patter on my a pillars, work well for what I want but I'm planning on upgrading to some Baja Designs in the driving combo beam.

have you compared them side by side with the lp9? at our last outing in the desert the gravity pro seemed to fall short. I want to say we saw farther driving distance with 4 or 5 lp6s vs a rack of 6 ks. I really wish all these top companys would put actual results on the site to compare lol

I admittedly have not. It would be helpful if Baja published the standardized performance specs like KC and Rigid for easier cross product comparison. It would certainly be interesting to see them side by side!

Front bumper is most ideal IMO for forward facing lights. Roof can give you better distance and the higher perspective will help reduce shadows, but it also introduces hood glare if mounted at the windshield which harms night vision, and adds wind noise.

You want to match your pattern with the desired use use case you are wanting to achieve. Driving provides the ideal blend (IMO) of distance light with good usable area coverage, it can be helpful for both off road and on road as an aux high beam. Spot is best combined with other distance light upgrades as the area of spot illumination is very small but will extend further than driving. Wide is good for extra near field awareness off road, but doesn’t help with distance and isn’t very helpful for street driving.
