maybe I’m missing something but I need to hook up my brake controller and the wiring harness I have doesn’t fit the plugin I found on my 2019 trd off road. Not sure if I’m missing another needed adapter or the one I have is right and I’m just not finding the correct adapter to hook into.

Here are the pics I have. One of wiring harness I have and the other two are pics of the only two connectors I can find not already hooked to something inside the truck below dash by kick panel.

You don’t have the right harness. The plug you found in the truck is correct

^^^DONT USE THIS PART, it has been updated to the 3031-P that now includes a white ground cord^^^

There have been cases of grounding failures in the controller and shorts damaging the harness in the truck:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2018-wiring-harness-for-brake-controller.528103/#post-16980804

Use the model like this one:Tekonsha 3031-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter-2-Plug, Toyota Tacoma 2015-2018 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781KTCPT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tydyDbRJV3MBG

Edit: if you have the older part without the grounding wire, you can also add one yourself to the ground wire on the plug, too.

Me too, but the damage if the controller fails isn’t worth it. You can modify and protect yours better if you want by tapping in a ground wire to the plug.

It is the 3031-P and is available on the Amazon link above for $17 - two day free shipping with Prime, also.

Yeah coulda shoulda woulda on my part. I knew I had to have it and just kept putting it off. Saw in a post a while back about which one was required and just couldn’t find it again for some reason. Sadly I had to have it today so went to dealership and paid $38.?? Tax and all for it so I could drive a loaded trailer about 500 miles. Lessons learned all the time :) thanks for all the help again!
