I'd like to do a bbk. maybe next year. I'd like the stop tech I think.

Well I will let you know how this turns out but I am sure either one will go well. I just liked the idea of being able to grab 338mm 4runner rotors at a moments notice if needed plus its different.

thanks. I'm not opposed to the 4 runner swap. but if I'm going to make the effort I may as well go big.
it's also the quality of design with aftermarket. oem is great but it's not the best as they make millions of them and keep production prices lower.

Agreed. I am referring more to the Wilwood setup not the regular 4runner calipers. I am adding a BBK Caliper to my truck. The 4runner rotors are 338. The Stoptech BBKs are 328 and 340 plus or minus a few mm. The only thing 4runner part when I am done is that it uses the same size rotor. I have a set of DBA4000 T3 Rotors on order and currently have Stoptech on it now.

You can go to Wilwood or Stoptech and get a full blown 2 piece rotor BBK. Note quite racing so some high quality non 2 piece makes it a bit easier.

If you ever do feel like a small boost you can do the 4runner setup for under $400 if you source well.

that's about half of what if heard the parts to be. that's not bad at all for toyota oem.

I was more saying it for those looking for absolute maximum stopping power. I know there are improvements to be had on the OE braking system which especially holds true to those armored down to the teeth. Changing things out to bigger braking items do and will help in situations, but you also gotta be realistic about the improvements and cant expect all out track car performance out of it due to other physical limitations present and potentially at play.

I see your problem now. Yeah, I’d give Wilwood a call and find the adapters for those calipers.
It’s the complete Wilwood kit, but picked it up from Summit and got custom lines from Spiegler to eliminate the intermediate fitting.

    I found yer problem...

Cut out the intentional mud baths and you won’t have problems. I’ve been running the StopTech BBK for 16” wheel and haven’t had any issues with clogging up my calipers. Granted, the only wheelin I do is parking lots and mall curbs...

Very nice, a 222/258 cam eh?

I used to run a reverse split cam in my LS2. Everyone chased after horsepower. I was after massive torque and that is exactly what I got out of my LS2 Goat. It turned it into the righteously vicious V8 I knew it could always be.

Lol. She’s a mountain goat these days. Can’t avoid trails in my neck of the woods. Miss the days she was a pavement queen in southern Cali. Always waxed and cleaned.

its not that hard. just follow torque specs. if you can set the timing for the gears then you can do it for the whole engine.
come down to here and ill teach you. :D

    I had vision of:
    https://youtu.be/-ZpM3LrVBB8
    When you say muddin.

If it’s just normal trail wear, clean out your wheels a liytle more often. Maintenance goes a long way. The trails in my neck of the woods usual have a few river crossing/stagnant puddles. I just give em a shot of pressurized water at the gas station before I head home. Haven’t had a problem yet.

There was that one guy who recently did a valve seal job on his engine. Bought that tool below, that EKW Overhead cam tool, to help retain the valves while he removed the springs. Never had seen it before. He is in this thread too.
