What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The tapers just there so you don’t tear the seal up installing the axle. If your careful putting the axle in you should be fine

 

So i put these supposedly black anodized bolts I got from shore metals in the fender holes a couple days ago and they are already rusting....

 

Are you sure they are anodized? I don't think they are.

 

What I am getting at is I believe they are steel bolts that are black oxide coated. These types of bolts are all rusty on my motorcycle, which is why I replace the aftermarket bolts like these with ones that are corrosion resistant and put looks aside.

 

stock 16" rims, has anybody gone up a tire size? thinking i can grab another inch of lift.

Testing out the water setup but its coming along great! Flow is good, can turn off the nozzle and the pump will cut off at the desired pressure. 18 Gallon Tank allows for a few quick showers, but no heat yet, still deciding on the best heat exchanger. Bike rack seems to be the best place for the shower head, far enough away from the truck and the perfect height.

Air tank has also been hooked up! Still finalizing the quick disconnect mounting locations.

 

How ‘bout a small pump, black pipe as a heat exchanger, and solar for heat source?

 

I'm using a 20 plate heat exchanger and it works great.

 

Took a couple hours tonight and got most of the intake put back together. I'll finish up in the morning.

Well, I couldn't wait until morning and just finished putting it all back together. She runs great!

BUT....

I think I need to pull the intake back apart now. I have fuel dumping out of the air box so I think the fuel pressure regulator is now bad after sitting for so long and leaking into the vacuum port.

 

Found this post from 2015 which confirms my thinking about the FPR having failed and needing a new one.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's back to this stage again to replace the fuel pressure regulator.



And the fuel that leaked into the air box caused the rubber gasket that seals the air filter to swell and come unglued. So unless someone has a good idea to replace just the gasket, I have to get a new air box now too.

 

I ran 255/85/16 on the stock wheels for almost 8years, so yes you can put bigger tires on there.

 

What? As long as you keep your tires inflated to the same psi in the rear you will barely notice them. You need to re learn how to drive around corners at really low speed, but other than that one will barely notice it's there. I will say they do make for driving in light snow pretty hair raising.

As for banging pulling into a parking space, who cares what anyone else in the lot thinks.
