Is that a red wolf in your Sig? I just got done reading about them!!

I put them on in that god awful heat yesterday. Holy smokes what a difference they made with the BAMF hangers. Feels like a race truck now even with all the weight. I lost a ton of droop but the truck is much more enjoyable to drive now. Worth every penny! Im going to get some KONGS and paint them black now:anonymous: BAMF shock relocate and I'm going to be done with the rear:fingerscrossed:

Ive asked a lot of questions on here, but I think this may be the most important one so far...

I drove from Alexandria to school today (western Ohio). I lifted my truck about a month ago, and on the drive I had a crap ton of weight. I had my RTT and prinsu, as well as a yeti cooler, a huge trunk, a couch, a crap ton of clothes and just anything I would need this year. I could feel the weight right as I left, and in the mountains of MD/WV, I was kind of flying through them. Had about 12mpg, and had ECT power on for a little while, but decided to turn it off. A little bit later, I was going up a steep hill, and as I hit the gas it seemed like the transmission slipped and I couldn't get it to shift. RPMs were high, but there was also this kind of wind noise that happens, not really sure how to describe it. I could get above 40mph, so I got over to the right lane and slowed down. I tried pushing the gas after I got over the hill, and the same thing happened.

Now, every time I hit the gas even a normal amount, the same thing happens where the engine revs up and the weird windy noise comes from the engine.

With some phone advice from @ilubtimmyhos I stopped for gas and took a little break in case the tranny was starting to over heat.

I took 20-30 min breaks for the rest of the trip every once in awhile, but I figured that may not be enough to let it actually cool down, if that is the problem. Towards the end of the drive when speed limits were 45mph, the truck definitely did better as I was going slower.

I got to school and let the truck sit for a few hours. After starting it and driving it, the result was the exact same. It revs up and the wind noise comes back until I let off the gas and very slowly apply it.

I stopped at a stop sign, and pushed the gas fairly quickly, and it seemed to be stuck in 1st or 2nd gear because it revved up to almost the red zone and made a very unpleasant noise.

My guess is that it has to be the transmission, but who knows! No check engine lights or anything.

Im also going to start my own thread on this, but does anyone have any incite or advice?

Unless you have some armor on the truck it doesn’t sound like you were over payload. It sounds like a dealer/warranty problem. I personally wouldn’t use any of my time/energy on something Toyota should be fixing. But that’s just me.

I have been lazy and haven’t put the brake lines on yet so I haven’t tested droop but I thought these were supposed to be pretty flexy

Actually now that I think about it what I lost in droop I gained in up travel. I removed about 2 inches of bumpstop. I still have some work to do on the bump stops. They are really flexy but with the removal of the shackle flip they just cant droop as much. In any case I'm really happy with them so far. You off any next week? I got a few trails I wanna check out your way !! Rag mountain area if that rings a bell and the middle rapidan tract!!

I forgot which thread had the flagpole discussion recently but I'm totally doing this next time I'm up.

    High Knob Trailhead
    US-33, Brandywine, WV 26802
    (804) 314-2225
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/oEsPJz5vNx2EQoho9

I was literally 1/2 mile from it last time I was up but turned around because a gate was up on the trail I wanted to check out just before the WV line.

    Trail ends here

    High Knob Fire Tower Lookout
High Knob Trail, Brandywine, WV 26802
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/6LhB75rHtXUzk17p6

Should be a refreshing change up from the normal reddish knob run.

Are you talking a hike? I’ve done that trail on a mountain bike...scariest trail I’ve ever ridden haha. I never went to the lookout tower but it is supposed to be pretty cool

Can you get a video, so we can hear what the "windy noise" sounds like?

However, from what you posted, I would bet that you overheated the fluid in a big way and the trans is slipping. I've seen posts stating that some 3rd gen autos are coming underfilled from the factory, so that doesn't help the situation as you have less fluid to carry the heat away. Also, if you're low on fluid or burned the hell out of the fluid while it was overheated that will keep the transmission from shifting right as you're relying on fluid pressure and lubrication to shift. Hopefully, you didn't roast any of the clutch packs because that will require a trans rebuild or replacement.

You definitely want to take it to a dealership because they should cover it under warranty if it's low on fluid.

I just put on the BAMF hangers and shackles yesterday. At full unweighted droop my b110s are perfect. I unbolted them and they didn't move. With the shackle flip they would pull right out. The flip added some lift so that explains that. I also was able to remove some of the bump stops I rigged up so I have more up travel now. The deavers are a bit stiffer that the dakars so I didn't loose any noticable lift but gained uptravel so I'm a happy camper!!
