Nuther beautiful day here in New England with a touch of Fall in the air.
Not today but yesterday put my subdued American flag (CBoy808) vinyls on. Still need to put my Lab / flying duck vinyls over my door emblems that I had @CBoy808 custom design for me. Thinking I should put them on wet so I can adjust them because of how they fit in the Tacoma lettering. Going to wait for @CBoy808 for some advice on that. Water, soapy water? We'll see what he says. Pics once installed. Have a great day boys and girls!

I know Bud. Not often I get the opportunity to use a Julius Caesar quote. Siezed the moment! No harm, no foul, just a little jockularity when I can get it in.:thumbsup:

Besides....., I laugh at me all the time. Come to think about it so does my wife!

Water and Baby shampoo is the magic formula for installing tint on windows. This might be the thing for that too.

Worried about adhesion but that's kind of what I was thinking. High pressure laser washes my concern even after it cures. I wash the crap out if my truck!

Didn't even consider baby shampoo, good call!

Nothing wrong with putting a smile on someone's face every now and then. But she's beginning to give me a complex!
She's still laughing over the unicycle picture request.
And I'm not telling her about the t-shirts. That could cost me a good chunk of change if she decided to start handing them out.
    She's still laughing! Oy! :frusty:

I've used a squirt of dish washing liquid with water in a spray bottle to install decals in the past. Spray the door and back of decal then install. Can easily blot the water out from under the decal after you get it in place. Never trusted myself putting one on dry. Just a thought.

Maybe you could get CBOY808 to make you a decal instead of t-shirts...lol

Good call!:thumbsup: With all the photo shop apps that are out there you definitely don’t want to give her any ideas! :pccoffee:

Please........, last thing I want to see driving down the road is a bunch of Tacomas with a fat guy on a unicycle vinyl plastered on them. :frusty:

Used to do whole hull boat graphics. I always use 2 parts water, 1 part rubbing alcohol, just a couple of drops of light detergent. No dawn or degreaser type soap. Soft scrub hand soap, woolite, tide, gain. I always kept a bottle of no tears baby shampoo for washing my dogs. Out works great.

Water floats the decal. Alcohol helps evaporate water from under the decal. Soap breaks the tension of the water. Makes the decal slide.

Couple of tips. Never use water on reflective or metallic decals. Creates a path for galvanic corrosion if your paint is less than perfect or metal flake. Never use alcohol on printed stickers. Could damage the ink. Careful using soap on little letters. They can float around and end up misshapen. Always go dry if you can.

Not claiming to be a pro. Sure some people will argue. They always do. But this is what i have been doing for 25 years. Never had one come of yet. Even on the hull of some very fast boats.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Dawn was what I was thinking........., until now! Will check with Conor (CBoy808) on the composition of that vinyl he did for me. Not a pro? 25 years experience says you know a little something about applying vinyl!
    Good recommendations guys.
Dawn!! I would have messed up. Baby shampoo sounds like a good idea.

Just cause you have been doing it for a long time doesn't make you a pro. More of a side hustle when needed.

We all know dawn strips wax. It can leave a residue between the graphic and substrate. No issues most of the time. But gentler options exist. Dawn does great cleaning up burnt on spaghetti or washing crude oil off little baby ducks. Also has some other great uses if you mix with flammable liquids, antiseptics, or playground sand. But that's a different thread all together.
