Wilwood’s estimates are conservative. Best to go to the website and take a look at the minimum clearance needed and measure your wheels. 17” methods fit the 18” Wilwood kit. They have a nice drawing to look at.

 

You only need to run premium if you have 18” rims or larger

 

Man, I was trying to tell @BassAckwards via PM... it’s really not hard. I totally understand wanting to be cautious but I did it on my car never having done anything like it before and it was easy.

You are actually in the clear I believe. You don’t have to follow our BS laws since your truck is registered in a different state.

 

Unless they see your ride a couple times then you will be harassed.

No it doesn't work that way. This state blows but you won't get popped at the border or in general unless you are driving like an absolute jackwagon making the boost engage like pretty much all the time and burning rubber like a madman in front of state police.

Having out of state plates doesn't make you any more of a target than the state registered vehicle next to you really.

 

How much is that stuff really enforced in Cali?? I know at the beginning of the year new laws were passed for a ton of BS stuff including loud exhaust and whatnot. I heard however that yeah they’ll enforce that shit on you if your a tuner guy and or a tuner guy being a dickhead. For you guys in the Tacoma’s or anything else...(ram or Silverado with a flow master)...how is it. Do you have to drive your truck around all covertly and shit??

They are just scare tactics to scare the ricers into not being morons.

 

You see it every day. Do you feel it’s working? I’m just curious cuz my impression of SoCal in and around is that everyone is into modifying cars....low riders, old school guys with their muscle cars, younger guys with tuners.....us and so on

 

There is no state line inspections for exhaust or CARB approved mods.

This. If you are visiting from a different state, you can drive a couch down the road here, as long as its legally plated in your home state with current registration.

 

I now have the urge to do so there.

 

The dreaded exhaust law that everyone is afraid of is blown way out of proportion. For instance my subaru is 10x louder than my taco. Straight piped, will back fire on command, lots of crackles and pops when I am being a dick. All that and so far I have only been pulled over once for tint. (Knock on wood)

The exhaust law is just no longer a fixit ticket like it used to be. It’s not that much of a fine really. But I think they got some good videos out to scare people into thinking it’s around $1000. In reality those videos the officer tacked on a bunch of additional fines for other small things which adds up. I think they are just sick of the riced out sh*t boxes going to the “car shows” in public parking lots drifting/doing donuts and just being a public nuance.
