Looking up upgrading my upgrade. Currently have 6.5” kenwoods in my doors of my 09. Not very impressed. Looking for a good base speaker that is a little more clear at high volume than what I currently have.

Wanting to go back to 6x9’s. Figured a larger speaker with a bigger magnet would improve my sound quality. Correct me if I’m wrong

Start with some sound deadening. See how the 6 5's sound then look to go 6x9 if your still wanting more.

I'm planning on a audiofrog gs690 component system so those are a 6x9 option.

Those are Kenwoods least expensive speakers and your speaker adapter is installed incorrectly(backwards, inside out).

    Whats your current set up?

Ahh gotcha. Never used adapters before this was my first time lol. And I have just a basic Kenwood single den radio. No subs no amps

larger magnets do not mean better sound. However they it does typically indicate more power is required.

I have hybrid audio mid bass 6x9s and have been very impressed by them. But they require at least 100 watts .

What i would recommend is a set of 6x9 component speakers. 6x9 for the size to help get you a bit more bass, and the tweeters that come with it for cleaner highs. Depending on the speakers you pick, you will need to find an amp to power them properly.

If you're looking for bass you'll never be satisfied with just the door speakers.

Go with a dedicated sub now and save yourself some time, money and regret.

You need amplification if you're going to get the most out of aftermarket speakers. There are several awesome 5 channel amps out there; the first 4 for the doors and the last one dedicated for a sub. I put a JVC KW-V950BW head unit, Memphis VIV 6.5" components in the front, matching coaxials in the rear and a JL Audio Stealthbox all powered by a Memphis VIV 900.5 amp and was absolutely floored. It wasn't cheap, but do it once and do it right. You will love it!

I disagree, it just depends on what the listener wants/expects. A lot of it also depends on what type of audio is being listened to. There are many ways to achieve great bass, just ask Bose.

    Whooooaaaa! Yikes.

So information on 6X9's apparently isn't what you were looking for?

RF 6X9's are awesome! Don't know the answer on the fitment question.

WRONG. Completely depends on the speakers in question.
