Aftermarket bed liner over the composite bed?

has anyone ever used aftermarket bed liner(herculiner, line-x, rhino liner, etc.) over the composite bed??? like give it extra texture/protection/keep from scratching??? i really want to do this...im also gettin the oem bed mat

 

i forgot to add that im gonna sand it down to rough it up so the liner will have somethin to adhere to...sounds like a good idea to me

It will only add weight...It's a truck bed-It's going to get scratches. It doesn't need "protection" like normal metal beds and the bed mat will give you enuf grip by itself. Why spend the money to do something you don't really need??

Your truck- but adding weight (which is decreasing performance/gas mileage) just for the sake of looks doesn't make sense to me.

guys have asked their local line-x/rhino companies and they refused to do it.they claim it wont last. i cant recall what members posted that.i dont know first hand so im only going on what i read online. if its online it must be true

 

i like all the weight i can get in my bed. balances out the truck and drives allot better in the slop and snow, that why i got a cap. as for the bed liner, i know its not necessary but i was contemplating doing the same thing and getting the rhino line on the composite bed. if you want to brotect your truck and still be able to slide shit around and not ruin your knees when your climbing in the back for tools... a sheet of birch plywood workes miracles

 

I don't see the point of it but it's your truck so my opinion doesn't much matter.

 

My local Line X dealer says they won't do it as it doesn't stick well to the Tacoma or Ridgelne beds.

When I had my bumper done My coating guy said he has done the plastic beds and it works fine.
The problem is all the stuff in back with the cubbies, storage boxes, ele. oulets, ect. takes them twice as long so price goes up along with it.

I am holding off while doing other mods but may still do it.

 

if i do it im not gonna do the lil cubbies/boxes/storage compartments

 

FWIW I purchased my '08 used with this already done. Don't know which company did it but it looks good and seems to be holding up just fine. I personally never liked the composite bed's feel or look and this "option" helped push me to purchase this one.
