    Hello all.

My clutch master and slave cylinder wore out so I replaced them.
I noticed than when bleeding them you can’t have your peddle adjusted out to far as it won’t bleed. So I did it properly. It bled out nicely. Good pressure.

Not long after, I found myself having to pull the peddle up with my foot after shifting or it will suck down.
I also noticed when parked, if I leave it in gear, the peddle will sometimes suck down on me.

This is rather odd to me. I’m thinking that after I bled it out and adjusted the peddle, that this is happening. Is it possible for me to adjust the peddle down and not have this happen?

Due to normal clutch wear, it’s possible that I have to adjust the rod for the peddle out too far. Remember that when adjusted out further, it wouldn’t bleed after new installation of the hydronic cylinders.

I’m thinking I may have to just put a new clutch in it. Or adjust the peddle down until then. Changing out a clutch is a pain.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Just what brand replacements parts did you buy??

Some are pure garbage might last a few days.

Maybe should have replaced the rubber hose.

I have only ever used a vacuum bleeder so it matters not how things are adjusted to bleed

Well I’m sure the new master and slave are China parts. Didn’t look. The whole thing seems strange.

I tested it by hand with a screw driver on the plunger before putting it in. There’s no doubt that it could be the master cylinder being a junk part. That’s a good point.

I purchased a new clutch and flywheel today. So I may just replace that master cylinder with a high end part. Probably order one from Toyota. If it’s the master cylinder, it’s going to piss me off.

For now I will assume that it’s not. Just looking if anyone has experienced such a thing before. Why the peddle would suck down sitting in my driveway or in a parking lot is highly irregular.

Yes I did. I put a better quality master cylinder in and it works like a champ.
    I was pretty pissed.
It bled off perfectly. No issues.

Apparently when the cylinder is fully extended, it actually looses pressure. If your peddle is adjusted way down it might work but if you do that you can’t use your Cruze control unless you pull it all the way up with your foot. There’s a little switch under there.

I learned my lesson trying to save money on parts.

I went through 3 aftermarket master/slave cylinders. Aisin OEM only way to go

The only adjustment of the clutch master cylinder rod is for a slight clearance at rest nothing more. There is no "clutch adjustment".

Sounds like you popped the check valve when you "tested it with a screw driver" before installing it.

Actually when I went back to the reviews, I’m not the only one.
But it’s fixed now so it doesn’t matter. Checked the new one too.

There absolutely is a clutch pedal adjustment. Steps and measurements are outlined in the factory service manual.

Yes there is a pedal adjustment but that's it. By design the clutch self adjusts you can run the rod in and screw that up it needs to have some clearance it is clutch master cylinder clearance not clutch adjustment. Old stuff had clutch adjustments because it was purely mechanical and needed to be adjusted to compensate for clutch ware.
