Lol...that’s a funny pic. I would say it probably would have handled it, if the transmission was used as designed, ECT/S mode. These toyota transmissions have to be shifted in certain conditions more than any other automatic I have used and it can be confusing to a lot of people. Toyota needs to do a better job explaining this in my opinion.

They also need to add a transmission temp gauge...that should be standard on anything that has a hitch on it!

You are assuming it came filled from the factory.

Well documented that many did not.

You definitely need to get it to a dealer ASAP. You’ve got bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage until 36,000 miles.

I enjoy seeing these pictures. Crazy mo-fo's

However, most likely a diesel, has full floating rear axle, and could be a rather light load depending on what's in the boxes.

Yep get it to the dealer, low trans trans fluid is common on these trucks my 16 was a qt + low , my 19 just checked was 1/2qt low. It doesn't make sense that it doesn't get filled after the tow package is added, and the manufacturer doesn't pay enough time to do a proper PDI. as t fluid check takes time and work. The power train has a 60000 mile warranty.

    Probably damage done. Dealership
Will fix best they can while not replacing.

More trans issues down the road I’m sure. Trade in for manual or different truck....didn’t even sound like he was towing a heavy load.

Little sleuthing suggests that is a license built 3rd gen Nissan Junior, built by an Iranian company.

So probably diesel, and a manual transmission. I'm sure they keep it under 50mph too lol.

Could you imagine going over 50 mph with that load?

Windy noise sounds like the fan clutch. The reving to move sounds like the clutch packs are fried.

If you were getting 12mpgs, it sounds like you had quite a heavy load.... way heavy. I don't think it should have roasted your transmission, but you should have left ECT power on.

Probably should have a dealer look at it if still under warranty.

you should look up low ATF from factory reports for 3g Tacomas before speaking the common sense for us.

I had a similar issue like what ur having on my ‘13 reg cab 5speed mt when the MAF sensor plug became loose, the RPMs would redline and topped out at like 40mph after a short drive to the grocery store I checked under the hood and pushed that Shit back in and it ran like a top.

Don’t use overdrive with a heavy load unless it’s an easy downgrade. It’s basically a low power coasting gear meant for fuel economy when little power is needed to maintain speed. Towing or hauling, a transmission fluid cooler will lower temps but not reduce the strain and if you’re short on fluid a long trip with a heavy load is asking for trouble.
