So you want a lunch box locker? Does Eaton make a Detroit one that replaces the whole carrier?

That's what you were describing is a lunchbox where it only replaces the spider gears. A "regular" mechanical locker like a Detroit would replace the whole carrier assembly.

I'll do some looking and see if I can't find anything but maybe one of the lockrites would work.

Thanks! Yea ideally a carrier replacement would be the stronger option...but a lunchbox would be economical

Maybe call ECGS and talk with those guys see if they know of any that would work. Or maybe ones for a Hilux or something like that from overseas

A torsen is being put in mine as we speak from a 2013+ scion frs / brz

Just a little drilling is needed and works for 3.90+ gear ratios

I think its going to be badass. We compared at zuk’s shop the torsen and the trutrac from another vehicle. Functionally they are the same, but the torsen looks to be alot more beefy

Didn’t I read somewhere that a true-trac style diff won’t work in the front of our trucks because the diff/cv’s are always spinning when not engaged? Or that only one side is disconnected? Am I totally off base here? Because I’m pretty sure I asked about this once...

True-Trac/Torsen in front is exactly what I wanted. I’ll see if I can dig up the post.

Edit: this thread- obrlndkull describes the issue with an LSD up front: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/detroit-trutrac-install.580689/

I saw that, I was talking about user GT7. Unless he has the same, I’m interested to hear what he’s got going on. My apologies for the confusion.

Edit- I must be off today. He said something about AWD transfer case. Carry on. I’m apparently an invalid today.
