I figure that would have zero rubbing. Like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

With all the pains of a 285, I think I’m sticking with my 265/70/17 STT Pros. OP: it might be worth considering...

They come in at 31.9” and can’t see how barely an inch would be worth the pain. They rubbed a tiny bit on my mud flaps before my lift, but now with my 2” lift they fit and look perfect.

my 2 cents. I made the switch from 265 to 285 and it makes a big difference imo. I wish I would just have done that in the first place. Of course, that came with a slightly bigger lift, UCA, CMC, etc. So definitely some "pain" but I think it was worth it. 285 is the perfect size for these trucks.

Cutting is already done and those tires are 8 lbs more than the 285s I'm choosing.

I already have 265/70/17s, been happy with them for 45k miles but I'm just looking to scratch that 285 itch. If I dont like them I can always go back.

So I’m planning to get snipped too (since i got aftermarket rims), but have a question: How’d did they know how much to cut? I was planning on getting one tire mounted so they could use it as a gauge, cut, repair then take it back to get the set mounted balanced and aligned...please help me understand..am I making it too difficult?..-Concerned Newbie

Buy the plates first and use them as a template to mark the cut. It helps to ask the shop if they're familiar with a cab mount chop (CMC) or BMC (body mount chop). If not let them watch this.

If they're still not sure what to do go someplace else.

I was actually very surprised how little it rubbed with no CMC when I first put the tires on....

I have a high clearance bumper on the way and a CMC is totally a must. But who cares... it’s a truck!

16 inch FN FX Pro wheel.

265/70/17s. The lift measured out at 2.5" when installed, so that's has likely settled to just a shade over 2". The wheels are SCS Ray 10s.

What all did you do to fit the Ray 10s? Looks great! How wide is your stance? Spacers in your future?

The Ray 10s fit fantastic, I didn't do anything at all to get them to fit. No spacers, there's enough offset with the Ray10s I wouldn't even consider them at this point.

The stance is wider than expected, but I wanted that anyway. I'll need to take a picture from the front. I *do* have SPC LCAs up front, if I remember right they have a bit of positive caster on them.

I don't do anything super hardcore, I stick to mainly easy/moderate rated trails. This setup has been great for everything, both offroad and on, my MPG averages around 17-18 (lots of city driving in there).
