I like @EatSleepTacos suggestion !!!!! , but would like to give some input as well !!

Not knowing how many people are there on scene but you can do this !!! , with a recovery strap attach one end to the pass side slider . Next with a extra available person have them hold onto the strap with it taught

Doing this will act as an anchor point and keep the weight of the vehicle more to the passenger side

The other thing that might help would be to connect said winch to the drivers side of OPs bumper and put the recovery vehicle as far to the opposite side the trail as is comfortable. That'll give it a little more force to pull it back on the trail.

There are 2.. OP and Hobbs. Hobbs is only recovery truck but has a winch but no outside anchor points.

The radio silence has me curious what's going on out there. Hopefully next thing we read is that they're recovered.

I'm sitting here thinking and studying the pictures and I just had that thought as well. I originally said passenger but driver would be better to get the most sideways pull

Is there any way of backing a truck up the hill on the pass side and atach a winch to the silder and keep a slow steady sideways force while pulling it up on the shelf?

I like that idea better. Only fear would be the weight of the truck sitting on the winch line as it pulls and tries to lift the passenger side in the air.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
@Hobbs have any recovery straps? Put one in the winch. Attach both sides to the sliders on the passenger side, start pulling with winch forward right angle. Should pull it up

Looks too steep to me to do that.
I don't think it's quite that steep, but something to watch out for.

If they're smart they've turned off their phones and are just reasoning through it without all of our armchair quarterbacking.

Maybe, but there are some good tips in here. This should be slow and methodical so nothing wrong with checking their phones.

Yeah, although the longer these threads go, the more noisy they become.

I would rather take a hour to read through a thread than make a rash decision that results in the loss of both trucks.

Stock for now, but changes are coming... soon...
Current update. They were all good ideas but everything is a little too dicey for all of us. I’ve called bills and Bishop and am just going to eat the cost :/ I’m heading back to town with @Hobbs right now. By they way. Nicest guy you could meet. So I’ll be back out here tomorrow to hopefully get my truck back in one piece.

With only one winch on site their options are limited.
If they could get a winch line under the tire the could do a makeshift bush winch. Secure it and use op's wheel rotation to tighten the line and it'd keep the pulling force down low.

Yeah, definitely not advocating rushing. But, daylight is finite, and if you spend too much time filtering through every idea and not considering what is in front of you, you could be stuck out in the dark which doesn't help.

Sounds like they've made a sound decision.

I’d clear the rocks in front of the drivers rear tire for a smooth track up. Clear in front of front tires too or stack for a ramp if necessary.

Winch off the drivers side point very slow. If you have a snatch block, I’d hook that to the stuck truck and attach back to the winch truck to slow things down, get additional line and pulling power.

4lo and roll slow in the truck stuck.

I don’t think you need much to get back on the trail. I think you get it a foot or 2 and you’ll drive it no issue.

If you have 2 trucks, one without winch, I’d anchor the winch vehicle with the second truck. Get as much angle as you can to pull uphill vs straight.

I don’t think you’ve got to worry about falling off the side unless you go too fast.
