I’ve never had the snowed in experience where they cancel school, seems like those things you hear about in movies.

We did have a day where they cancelled school for an incoming rain storm. Happened to be my birthday, was awesome.

I grew up in Ohio, as good a place as any to be from and hated snow, Shitty midwestern snow always at the freeze thaw line. When I move to CA I learned to enjoy snow. It stays in the mountains where it damn well belongs. Have been at 10,000 feet ski camping in the snow and never got cold. Gotta love that high altitude snow.

They used to cancel school for snow now and again on the island I lived on cause it always caught everyone off guard. Meanwhile my college hasn't taken a day off for snow or ice in over 60 years.

Only had one memorable earthquake here a few years back. Epicenter was near DC iirc. I was in a car so didnt feel anything, friend said his entire house started vibrating like a fun house at a carnival.

A few tiny tremors every now and then, one a few towns over hit a few months back. Barely noticed by most people.

The closest area there was snow to San Francisco was Mt. Tamalpais near San Jose during the Winter, only about an hour from here.

We were driving up to Tahoe in the Mercedes and got stuck in a Blizzard once. They shut down the entire I-80 and everyone was pulled to the sides of the Interstate. There were tons of news vans, the car across from us was being interviewed by a news network.

Our public school district hired some genius from New York as our new superintendent a few years back. She refused to cancel school and assumed bus drivers from the south could drive in it. Only took one minor wreck, and theyre back to having every day where theres atleast a 51% chance of snow off.

Earthquakes are very weird, unlike anything you’ve felt before. The ground doesn’t really shake, it slides and rumbles.

Those are the best days. Id just watch movies all day while watching the snow get deeper and deeper. Thankfully my driveway is in full sun all day, so the sun does my shoveling for me most snow days.

I find that the social media explosion of "DID ANYONE FEEL THAT!?" more entertaining than the earthquake.

Pretty similar to the "--- has marked themselves safe from Hurricane Deathmachine2000."

    No one cares.

We would get NWS alerts which make iPhones go off in unison whenever there was a haboob in AZ. Was hilarious watching a sea of iPhone users get panicked that their phones were making noise.

I had a friend who lives maybe six miles from me marking themselves safe from the Indonesian Typhoons of 2015. o_O

In California it's Amber Alerts. I was in a huge lecture hall when an Amber Alert went off, was interesting to hear the alarm tones going off from hundreds of people.
