I think I noticed you’re using Carrillo rods with the stroker motor. Did BC not have a complete kit at the time? Or was that an upgrade?
I was imagining the rods were a one off proprietary design for the stroker crank.

 

Carrillo makes them for the 1GR. The rod length doesn't change between the factory crank and stroker crank. Just the wrist pin location in the piston.

The reason that I went with them is due to their strength and design. Plus where they are manufactured. They are rated for over 2k hp in this engine. Strongest rod bolts as well.

There was a problem to overcome though. The shape of the rods created an interference fit with the oil squirters. That...took a loooong time to remedy. This for that.

The BC rods do not have a that interference issue. The stroker kit was made for the 1GR. Not a mixed bag of parts.

The CP Carrillo rods were roughly $2200.

 

Guessing this piston clearancing is a separate issue than what the CP rods required?
Did you end up modifying the squirters?

 

Didn't have to clearance the pistons. Bought those through BC.

The block needed a tad a clearancing also, for these rods.

I did. A lot of in and out, rotate assembly, check again. Took quite a few hours.

Going to try a very experienced machinist in Jersey, but guessing he’s never dealt with a 1GR before, so your experiences are a huge help.

 

Places that have a good reputation for import engines, is a good start. At the end of the day, it is all still similar metals and similar numbers for clearances.
