2018 ECU ID help.

I took my 2018 in to my dealer and asked them to do the TSB-0058-18 or 0062-18 update to it. I have the sputtering around 50 mph problem. They told me that they had updated it but the problem is still just as bad as it was before hand. I don't have any scanning tools other that an ELM327 bluetooth reader and a copy of ELM Master for my laptop. I was able to get some IDs out of it but they don't seem to match what I am seeing online. Can anyone tell me from what I can find in the ECU if they have actually applied the ECU firmware to fix the problem, or if they just told me what I wanted to hear?

Are you saying that #1 was before and #2 was after? 04A61 (#1) is the latest for my 2018.

No when I hook up my ELM tool to it, it gives me two different ECU options "ECU #1 and ECU #2". I am assuming the ECU #1 is the engine and ECU #2 is the transmission. Though it could just be an odd thing the ELM tool sees. Both of those numbers are what is currently in the truck.

 

Get a pirated version of techstream. Someone just posted a link to one.

 

Try OBD Fusion. I'm not sure if the free version provides the ECU ID, but I think it does.

 

Will techstream use the ELM327 adapter? As of right now that is all I have. I hope to get the OVtune at some point, but I just wish that Toyota would just fix their issues with the thing.

 

You have 04A61, which is current for 2018's.

 

You need a cable for TechStream, not just a bluetooth adapter.

 

Thank you all for the info. I will have to look into getting the OVtune. I'm not looking for more power just want it to be smooth and not sputtering. Right now it feels like it struggles so much just to maintain 50 mph. Almost feels like they tried to program the transmission like it was a CVT.

 

You can get the mini VCI and it's available on Ebay and Amazon for around $25.

 

Just a thought but you still have warranty. Drop it off and tell them to fix it.

I ordered the new handheld tuner on 8-30-19 I am still awaiting a shipment notification, I am very hopeful that this will make the truck drive like a normal vehicle. Thank you for the information.
